Rudder seems too sensitive /reactive after latest update

hi all,im sorry if this has already been covered,

I've managed to tame it down a bit with a curvature of 45 but the rudder control just seems way too sensitive/overreactive since the PFM update , and it seems worse now since the latest patch, I'm on version 2.5.3.23225 and anything other than the slightest press of the rudder pedals(ch pro pedals), seems to make the aircraft want to flip over and it tries to flip even more violently as the rudder returns to the neutral position, surely this cant be right in its current state?

I think he means in flight. Compared to the Su-33 at least, Mig-29 has ridiculous rudder authority. Almost side-cobra level. I didn't find it too twitchy at small input, and I wouldn't presume to claim it's incorrect, but I would also be interested to hear expert opinion on this matter.

I can say exactly the same, it has a huge effect on the aircraft in flight, with even so much as a small adjustment the aircraft can shake from side to side as you bring the rudder back to it's central position.

 

It can't be like that for real, it's impossibly twitchy and way too reactive!

"It is strongly recommended not to override the artificial stop"

 

It is stated that the rudders deflect 25 degrees to either side so rudder inputs above ~25% of travel to either side should be avoided in flight and definitely above 485KIAS when they implement vertical stab overstressing, assuming that isn't in yet.

So you, guys, are complaining that those big rudders work too good? Why would you touch the rudder during flight anyway beside aerobatics or ACM? It's not that violent when flying fast.

Compare to F-15C just for tests sake - it's the same - small application make yaw movement, bigger one make you roll. As for the power of it - wait for the SME's opinion.

I for one wasn't complaining, just adding observations. In fact, I nearly started a thread in the Su-33 section to ask why the rudder on the Flanker is so anemic compared to the new Mig-29. The Fulcrum can actually do a slow speed wingover... the Flanker just loses rudder authority completely.

 

I love the power of the rudder on this thing, and I don't have issues with directional stability using small inputs.

 

The question is though, is the artificial soft stop at 6 degrees modelled in game in some way? Or do you just have to use muscle memory to not deflect the rudder beyond this?

Indeed, the rudder is too sensitive on the runway too, hard to maintain straight direction if you don't use the parachute. Bad, there is not a "disable nosewheel direction"button

 

If you keep flaps down, nose wheel steering will be less violent.

It allows you to do some amazing things with your nose in high alpha low speed situations... :)

We need to narrow down how much of it is due to our control set up and how much is due to the model. After all, DCS has to be compatible with over a dozen different controllers and so many personal settings. Have you guys play with the saturation? Right now I have been trying a curve around 15 and saturation X to 100 and Y to 81 on the rudder. Need more flights to see if it is better or worst.

Seems like SME to me and he mentions rudder use at the end of the post.

 

As for the settings I use 45 curve for every aircraft. That gives me much precision and full deflection when I need it. But my rudder is just finger bar on the TM TFlight Hotas X. If it does not suit you for the pedals just use curves and other settings - they are there for a reason.
