Hello

since the update of dcs i have ctd. I do not know why.

Problems from Log:

  1. Log indicates you have Mods installed, they aren't authenticating, if you updated with those installed, probably broke things.
  2. Getting DirectX disconnect, so graphics card is disappearing from system so driver can't function or vise versa.

Resolution:

  1. Remove Mods manually or run DCS_updater cleanup to check for non-standard DCS files (Left over MODS) and allow it to remove them for you.
  2. Usually bad nvidia graphics driver install causes the directx problem, would recommend going back a version, and using DDU to clean out all traces of driver and reloading. (Personally I had issues with v416.xx, but v411.70 seems to work better for me and win8.1), you mileage may vary.
  3. Once steps 1 and 2 done, re-run DCS and check that it now runs correctly, then slowly introduce you MODS back in one at a time, just to see if any of them break DCS again.

Regards, Ian.

Will need the following info:

  1. To see one of your current DCS.log files produced when CTD happened.
  2. What mission / missions are you using when problem happens ???
  3. What aircraft you flying when it happens ???
  4. Does it happen in Single player and / or Multiplayer when it CTD ???

Dxdiag.txt looks ok, so far as graphics drivers installation.

hi Ian,

miz is a simple i've created, very simple.

aircraft f18 single player

Log looks really clean except for that dreaded DirectX error still, the one that is causing a lot of problems with mainly GTX-1080 based cards.

Quote from another user:

The problem can arise if the gpu bottlenecks the cpu or vice versa, and then you get the error 'failed to map the vertex buffer . . . '.

It can be caused by quite a few things:

  1. Including too high settings in the game.
  2. A driver issue.
  3. Weak CPU and strong GPU and vice versa.
  4. Corrupt file(s).
  5. Faulty GPU (maybe).
  6. Not enough system RAM.
  7. Not enough VRAM.
  8. Other hardware issues.

Simply, Vertex buffers are used to optimise or share processing by both the CPU and the GPU. Vertex Buffers provide us with a mechanism of being able to load vertex buffer data into the CPU (and RAM), while at the same time allowing the GPU to process an earlier batch of vertex data. This gives us a good image at reasonable frame rates.

Problem talked about in other ED forum:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=157540

I really can't see anything wrong within the log provided, virtually no errors at all shown, which would suggest to me, that DCS is functioning reasonably well, but your system has some issue with GPU processing for DCS.

Suggestions:

  1. Some revisions of Window 10 updates have caused issues in the past and had to be rolled back to fix the issues, but I don't run Win 10 so I can't state what works and what doesn't.
  2. As your physical system RAM is only 12gb I would increase your Windows Pagefile to 32gb, but try 52gb or system managed as well (just a hunch, test and see if it makes any difference at those three settings).
  3. Try Deleting all files in the: "C:\Users\Pierre\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo" and "C:\Users\Pierre\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\metashaders2" folders.
  4. If you have bit defender or Antivirus enabled, put a entry in their exclusion lists for the DCS folder, so scanner will not be doing on the fly checking or files as DCS runs.
  5. Try reducing some graphical settings in DCS config, Preload radius and other heavy settings.
  6. Try running system in 1080p temporarily instead of 4k res to see if that make a difference.
  7. Use GPU-z or MSI afterburner utility to monitor what performance your card is doing when running game (Any anomolies).
  8. Try DCS on a faster SSD drive maybe.
  9. Stuck for anymore suggestions.

Regards, Ian.

Hi again,

All the weekend i've tried to find a solution of my CTD. No way ...

I've changed planes, Maps and try all the things I've found on the forum, followed the advice .. no way...

I can't fly for more 10 minutes. Then ctd.

So far there is at least two users with this issue in DCS, one with Win8.1 and Win10 (Both can't fly for more than 10-20 minutes without CTD and have exactly the same error in the DCS.log).

I have googled the issue to find a solution, hence, my large post earlier, there is no clear cut answer, DCS is not the only game having this issue so it is more of a Windows (Patches or settings), Nvidia (GPU drivers or settings) or general hardware conflicts (Overheating CPU, GPU or Overclocked CPU, GPU, RAM or a PSU that can't deliver enough power on demand), this goes beyond just simple troubleshooting.

This one is just too hard to talk you through advanced things to try, I have never had the issue so can't replicate it. Hopefully ED or some other users may be able to help you.

That certainly poses more questions than it answered !

1 : why is your 1080ti reporting 4 gig vram ?

2: 12 gig ddr3 @533 mhz running VERY high graphics settings (down-sampling , 4X MSAA , SSAA , plus all the textueres , effects , etc .)

3 : The same with a I7-950 ?

It appears you have a massively unbalanced system , and are asking way too much of your ram and CPU

I can only suggest dialing down your graphics settings in DCS . (AA , terrain textures , clutter/ trees , checkboxes and terrain shadows , to name a few)

I would also suggest downloading MSI afterburner . It provides invaluable troubleshooting information via charting . I would be particularly interested in CPU temps and ram usage .

1080ti is 11 gig , 1080 is 8 .

Regarding AA , MXAA x2 , SSAA off .

Afterburner is a free download , and is very easy to set up .

In the crash log from DCS you can find that there seems to be a problem with your gpu driver

2018-11-19 16:10:24.662 ERROR DX11BACKEND: failed to create vertex buffer. Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED
2018-11-19 16:10:24.663 INFO EDCORE: try to write dump information

In your dxdiag file you can find the same information

Signature du problème :
P1 : DCS.exe
P2 : 2.5.3.23954
P3 : 5be48c8b
P4 : d3d11.dll

Like MadDog-IC already said, this could be a gpu-driver problem. I can see from the dxdiag that you are using the 416.34 driver, i'm using the 416.81 driver and have no problems. Could you please update your gpu driver to 416.81(like i have) or to the newer 416.94? Please do a reinstallation of the driver and don't install it over the existing one.

After you updated your gpu driver, please go to your "C:\Users"your username"\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta" folder and delete the "fxo", "metashaders"(if you have one) and "metashaders2" folder. Start DCS and test if it's still crashing.

Hi pierreaf,

sorry to hear that this didn't helped you. :( Do you have any other programmes running in the background? (HW-logging, GeforeExperience, video-capture...) Do you run any mods on your DCS installation? Is anything overclocked, CPU, GPU, RAM? The only thing in that log is that "DX11BACKEND: failed to create vertex buffer. Reason: DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED" error and thats something GPU/Driver related....very strange. Last thing you could try is to install a programm to log your CPU clock/temp, RAM usage and GPU clock/temp/VRAM usage and start DCS hoping that they log something useful. I think you already tried this but for test purposes you could try again in 1080p and with the preset low in DCS(restart DCS after choosing that preset, just to be sure...).
