The Big Show - My Combat Report Movies

Recommended Posts

Hi Sydy, real nice again.

But i ask me slowly, why the enemy KI flights often like in DCS. They fly as if they ask to be shot down..often straight ahead and only some turns. Like an invitation to do so. In reality, the Doras and Messerschmidt flew a boom and zoom tactic, avoiding turn fights with the agile Spitfire, whenever possible and the spit cannot fly negative G much.

But ok, the Dora was newer in real as the MK9 and i took a rest in this campaighn after Mission 6, to do now on the last missions.

But that should not detract from your successful flight in such height, very good Video.

Sydy, I made another test mission where no bombers drop, and they trigger explosions on the ground. It's a lot of work to set up a respectable number of explosions, neraly impossible to randomize, and frankly, it doesn't look good at all. So I'll just wait and see if this will be fixed in the future. I wrote a note to ED about this.

Well, I agree that to fight AI is kinda predictable, but it is fun anyway. Remember that not all LW pilots were aces and many were naive and inexperienced. These were killed fast. If they give me a chance, I will kill them and let their CO to write to their AI Mamas! LOL

Let’s wait a bit and see if everybody can get a good streak. I agree that I lucked it out several times, but I did my share to lower LW numbers! :pilotfly:

I will check it tonight. I will let you know.

I will keep the movies coming out one per day until I complete the 12. What a shame my audios were crappy... lol

All the best,

Well Sydy,

thats a Ki Problem but it makes us much fun. I kept doing my campaign on, the last part of Missions.

Now i has Mission 6 behind me. A lot of very big holes in my Spitfire, one kill, others has holes like me and at last an RTB. A wild battle but good at last. When I pursue the doras, they hardly fight back as if they no longer have ammunition

How i can Show (upload) a screenshot, i have no Server (http or url). Unbelievable that i could bring the bird back to England, smoking and big holes around whole plane. The AAA is in Mission 6 the Killer, ok you can fly more left or above. But at first attempt the flak got me down

Hi Gerd,

Nice you restarted the campaign. I flew it for the fun.

To post a screenshot, you have to find a free image hosting service. Google it and find a nice one for you.

Good you made it back. I also returned once smoking like hell.

Safe flights and good hunting.

All the best,

Sydy

Hi guys,

Here goes my mission 8: "Dive bombing".

If you want to jump into the action, go to 11:00 where most of it starts.

Reflected, I will fly that test mission now. I let you know.

All the best,

Sydy

Reflected,

I just flew the test mission now. I got surprised it was a Mustang, not a spit. LOL

FPS was average of 60 during the escort, but dropped to 3 for about 4 seconds during the bomb drop, got stable at 20 during the bomb fall and another drop to 2 fps for 3 seconds during the explosions then went back to 60fps.

All the best,

Sydy

Looks like the performance suffers regardless how many planes drop, or the PC :(

Reflected,

I am sure it is a ED and DCS thing, not you.

Anyway, I would recommend the campaign to anyone. I vouch for the fun.

Tomorrow I will post another video. It will be the mission with bomb drop.

Edit: Editing the movie today, the drop was not that bad over Rouen.

All the best,

Sydy

Hi

I have a problem with the Spitfire in mission 1 when I get towards the French coast. I am at about 25K ft and my rpm at about 26.5 and boost about 4 ish. The low fuel pressure warning light comes on and the engine coughs and sputters and i lose power. I switch the fuel pressuring cock to the right (on?) and then have to pump the wobble lever which sometimes works! when i then lose altitude the engine pressure light goes off and engine kicks in and happy days!

Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong?

Thanks

Neal

Hi Bluethornton,

Leave your FUEL PUMP (the one ahead of the pitot switch) ON the entire time above 10kft, this way you will not lose power at all.

I am sure it was OFF during that event.

Hello guys,

Here goes another one. It shows the most important events during that mission, including takeoff, armed reccon, intercept by 190s and dogfight, one kill, navigation, return to base and landing.

If you want to jump into the action just go to 10:45.

All the best,

Good morning, guys,

Here goes the 11th mission (A success and the end). It shows the most important events during that mission, including takeoff, intercept of large formation, dogfight, at least one kill, return to base and landing. If you want to jump into the action, advance to 07:45 where the big dogfight starts:

All the best,

Good stuff! :) I see in mission 10 you didn't attack the trucks like in the book :)

Reflected, I was pushing my luck way to far on this campaign. :D

Well, guys, this is it. I edited the last movie. I was luck again on the last mission. I got 3 kills and managed to find Rommel's car. It is VERY difficult and the 109s raised the position to me, then it was a matter of finding it.

It shows the most important events during that mission, including takeoff, armed reccon, intercept by Me-109s formation, dogfight, three kills, Rommel hunt and straffing, return to base and landing. If you wan to jump into the action, advance to 08:30 where the big dogfight starts or to 14:00 where the Rommel hunt starts or at 15:00 where Rommel attack begins. In the end I reviewed my results in this campaign: 15 air to air Kills and 4 ground kills in 12 missions.

I apologize for the bad voice over audio, but I only found out after I flew the missions. Anyway, I hope you liked the series.

I'd like to congratulate Reflected for such amazing campaign. Congratulations!

All the best,

Sydy

Which mission? I made sure I used music that is not covered by copyright anymore. I checked the legislation and everything. I know this is so annoying, this overpolicing will be the death of Youtube...

EDIT: all of your videos have audio, I just checked.

Reflected,

It was in the 12th, “Johnny marching home”. I marked to remove the audio (around 3min), but YT said original video will be available until they do so.

Tks,

That song was written and published in 1863, so no copyright there. The recording was also done more than 70 years ago. I was really careful about this. I will just go ahead and remove them all to be sure....

I don't think you can pressurize the slipper tank.

It hates any kind of negative G as well.

Switch to the main tank and see if it happens.

You could be near empty by then anyway if you switched to the slipper after takeoff.
