hi all. so i know how to use the TACAN in my harrier just fine for ground-based TACANS. but for some reason i just get can't it to work when it's ship-based. i'm doing the exact same setup, but nothing happens.

my steps for a 10X tacan on the carrier:

1) press "TCN" button on upper panel

2) enter "10" and press "ENT"

3) double check "T/R" and "X" are selected (they are by default anyway)

4) press "TCN" in the HSI

5) profit??

but nothing happens. those steps work for me with land-based TACANS. is there another step needed for ships?

thanks!

Hi. You need to know in which channel the carrier is programmed, check it in your mission editor and the carrier need to start the TACAN and the same for the ICLS.

If you are playing in a server, check the briefing (ctrl-b, I’m ain’t sure), scroll down and the carrier frequencies must appear.

I’m sorry for my English.

Case 1 BRC is given or just line it up when in the pattern overhead.

Case 3 is Final heading, when you cannot see crap all.:cry:

One other question:

~ IRL;

Is the TACAN from the carrier , based (000) on Final or BRC?

Thanks guysthumbup.gif

Depends on if it's Case I or Case III. For Case I, I set it to BRC. If it's Case III, I might set it to BRC minus 9 degrees while waiting for the ICLS to align.
