Snappy Posted November 15, 2018 Share Posted November 15, 2018 Hi, does anyone know the reason, why the 15 degree value on the AOA marker is emphasized with the thick red line? The DCS manual says nothing on this and the english Manual from the German Air Force Mig-29 doesn't it explain it either in detail. It is not the maximum AOA , at least not in absolute sense. I'm not sure,it could be either optimum AOA (with the best lift to drag ratio) or the AOA limit with LEF retracted , but I don't know why they would mark that, as normally they should have extended automatically before that during maneuvering and should not be lmiting. Snappy Posted November 15, 2018 Author Share Posted November 15, 2018 Ah ok, I read some more, it could be the AOA limit for take-off and landing config, which according to the english manual is also at 15 degrees AOA. Some examples from the 1F-MIG29-1; Page 1-67, 1-67B, 5-13, 6-11, 6-12 - 15° AOA is critical for AOA/G computer low and high value. - If no LEF extension, 15° AOA becomes the limit. - Above 15° AOA, stick force reduce drastically creating an inherent tendency of uncomanded pitch up at around 18° AOA. DmitriKozlowsky Posted November 16, 2018 Share Posted November 16, 2018 In all aircraft instruments, regardless of aircraft type, anything higher then RED, is dangerous and prohibited. "Higher then RED, you are dead!" Exception is fuel "Fuel read RED, aircraft close to dead!" TOT temp above red, you will loose an engine and/or engine fire TOT overtemp during startup, you just toasted a million dollar turbine. IN DCS: Mig-29 with PFM.
