davebert Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 (edited) Now that we ordered our Thrustmaster Warthogs we need rudder pedals and have decided on the MFG Crosswinds pedals from Milan in Croatia. Before we order them I wanted to be sure he is still selling the pedals. Has anybody purchased them recently? The website looks alive and well and I contacted him through the contact link yesterday but have heard nothing back. Thanks edit: I just found this and is dated November 8, 2018 so I think we are good to go... https://mfg.simundza.com/blog/volair-sim-obutto-r3volution-compatibility-with-wap-addon-from-mfg/ --- Edited November 24, 2018 by davebert Spelled rudder "rundder. :)
Bob_Bushman Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I think I ordered mine in April Was slotted for June batch or something, I might be wrong about this. Anyhoo. pedals arrived as expected and they where indeed a huge upgrade from my CH. I recommend getting the optional width adjustment not right away. They are actually so wide these pedals I was on the edge of comfort without the narrower fit. If you build a pit for instance you need these just so they fit. And with such great gear you really should ;) i7 8700k @ 4.7, 32GB 2900Mhz, 1080ti, CV1 Virpil MT-50\Delta, MFG Crosswind, Warthog Throttle, Virptil Mongoost-50 throttle.

I looked at the pdf drawings and the width to the outside of the pedals is almost 19.5 inches and the pedals are 4 inches wide so that leaves 11.6 inches in between the insides of the pedals. Sure glad I decided *not* to get the Thrustmaster pedals.
davebert Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 Yep got mine in October. Thanks for the reply. How do you like them? Do you know if he offers the lighter spring for heli operation or if he has just refined the design with the tension adjuster? I read about an optional spring that is not on the order form that you have to request and pay a little extra for.
golani79 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I´v also got a pair of Crosswinds and you can adjust the spring tension - absolutely fine to fly Helos as well! >> DCS liveries by golani79 <<
chief Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 I loosen the spring off completely for the helo flying. I don’t like to have any tension at all since you pedals are very rarely in the neutral position...maybe on the ground and that’s about it. And yes, it’s tension is quite easily adjustable. As for how do I like them? I think they are fantastic. I bought the TM TPR pedals at the same time and dollar for dollar value I’d say the MFGs are the better way to go. The TPRs are awesome as well but cost quite a bit more.

So you get the regular and the soft spring for $2.75 more. Works for me. Thanks

I've been using twist j-sticks from day 1 and unfortunately don't feel comfortable with pedals. Could be they were not of good enough quality. They constantly moved around under my feet making control difficult.

Could be they were not of good enough quality. They constantly moved around under my feet making control difficult. Like any new control instruments it takes time and a bit of effort. Rudder pedals work differently than anything else you are used to. unless of course you are an actual pilot then you know what's what ;) Give yourself 10-12 hours of actual use before making any judgement, over at least three separate sessions. That's about how much time I needed for starting out with my CH pedals. But once it 'gelled' with my mind, made a few adjustments to position the fluidity of control I gained was a point of no return. And the crosswinds are better in every regard than the CH. After ordering you should get a notification from Milan for an expected delivery date, he operates in batches, about a week or so before he has your order ready you get contacted again where you affirm your order, followed by payment details. Phil73805 Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 My only hesitation in buying these myself, apart from the cost and complications of assembly :) is that they are too wide to fit in the foot-well of my desk. According to the drawings they are 49cm wide which is at least 5cm too wide. Can you reduce the width? Windows 10 64bit, Intel Core i5 8600K CPU @ 3.6GHz, 32GB DDR4 2400MHz RAM, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 6GB. 500GB SSD (Exclusively for DCS World), Thrustmaster Warthog, Logitech G Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals. Track IR 5 with Pro Clip. Vaicom Pro. EASA PPL(A), Glider Aerobatics. Modules: A-10C, F/A-18C, F-5E, Mirage 2000C, AV-8B N/A, Yak 52, Flaming Cliffs 3, Heatblur F14B/A, UH-1H Huey, SA342 Gazelle and all but one of the warbirds. Czech6 Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 The pedal width mod kit can be used to make the width wider or narrower. I've used it to make mine narrow. Currently, outside to outside dimension is 18.5" or 47cm.

fargo007 Posted November 30, 2018 Posted November 30, 2018 I bought these expressly for helos, and I could not possibly be happier with them. They have a precision level so high, it's like they are mechanically connected. Assembly is very easy. You really only have to bolt the pedals and feet on. It hasn't needed recalibration in over a year. I say you chose well, and don't look back. Have fun. Don't suck. Kill bad guys. https://discord.gg/blacksharkden/
