Mr_sukebe Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I'm conscious that: - If you want to add your callsign, that it's quite possible to update a livery to make that happen. However, does require a little skill and would then need to be replicated if you want it on other aircraft - Even if you create said dedicated skin, it wouldn't be visible to others in multi-player My thoughts are to suggest: - The core game allows a player to create custom callsigns, that can be applied to either all aircraft by default, or just for a specific aircraft. That callsign is then applied over the top of whatever current skin is in use on the aircraft. Yes, I appreciate that some skins already include callsigns, but you've got to start somewhere. - On joining a server in multi-player, that callsign is shared from the player to the server and thus made visible to all other players on the server. Clearly the callsign size needs to be limited, so as to ensure that it won't make servers look a ridiculous mess. 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

Baco Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 It would be nice, and they can use the same system that applies custom "Bort" numbers.
NeilWillis Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 It's a great idea, but at present, all people signing on to a server would need all the stencils on their own hard drive to see them globally. If we could have a similar system to the way Bort numbers work, but with letters, and of course more than just three characters, it might work very nicely. But I wouldn't hold your breath for this one. Even in the real world, there is no guarantee you'd fly the bird with your name on it as the aircraft are generally rostered and not treated as one pilot's domain.
Buzzles Posted November 27, 2018 Posted November 27, 2018 I wouldn't have thought expanding the Bort system would be too hard. Letters and numbers only though. Actual custom art assets being sent over the wire isn't something I'd like to see. Fancy trying Star Citizen? Click here!
flyco Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 What would be useful, would be the ability, in the F-18, to reproduce the aircraft side-number on the instrument panel. I can usually remember my name and even my Callsign, but regularly have to refer to external view prior to rejoining for a Carrier approach.
Knubinator Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 The only downside to this is that most of the things people put on their jet are not going to be polite phrases. Probably why they haven't done it yet. i7 4790k @ 4.4, 32GB RAM, RX480 GTR I fly it all.
Kayos Posted November 28, 2018 Posted November 28, 2018 That would be great. Especially if all players saw it in multiplayer. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
