davevegas901
I've built a system that works and got the Lenovo Explorer. I'm sure I'll have many questions. My first two: I downloaded DCS then I downloaded steamvr and DCS again thru steam. Was this necessary? Do I have two DCS's on my computer now or are they the same thing? Also, does anyone out there use either the old suncom F-15E system or thrustmaster FLCS TQS? I have both in the garage or will I need a newer system to really get into DCS? Thanks, guys! VR has been a dream of mine since playing Janes back in the mid 90's. We've gone from 17" monitors to 50" flat screens to head tracking to true VR, I'm very excited! Jethro11
If you already have dcs installed on your computer, you do not need the steam version too. They are separate installs.

Deano87
I'd also suggest not using the steam version and sticking with stand-along as the steam version tends to be later on getting updates/new releases and also a chunk of your money goes to Valve rather than to ED and the 3rd party developers. hansangb
that parte is false, things have changed and those dark times when DCS Steam users were left behind are gone. So there is no delay anymore? The Beta and GA are released at the same time as DCS servers? I thought there was still a week or more delay. Hmmm, I just checked. Is BETA available on STEAM? I didn't see it, although it was a quick check. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

Bob_Bushman
Steam/valve need to validate and test each release for issues. Hence there will be a delay between new releases. It's probably more likely that ED holds back a little on stable so the releases coincide more. Beta branches however have a much more relaxed set of verification requirements, practically none I believe so beta is just pushed out as it comes. i7 8700k @ 4.7, 32GB 2900Mhz, 1080ti, CV1 Virpil MT-50\Delta, MFG Crosswind, Warthog Throttle, Virptil Mongoost-50 throttle. As far as I'm aware Beta is NOT available on STEAM and there is a delay in release. A week? no way. I have no problem running the same Steam OpenBeta version than my standalone-user squadronmates the VERY same day is released by ED. So both questions answered. i5 8400 | 32 Gb RAM | RTX 2080Ti | Virpil Mongoose T-50 base w/ Warthog & Hornet sticks | Warthog throttle | Cougar throttle USB | DIY Collective | Virpil desk mount | VKB T-Rudder Mk IV | Oculus Rift S | Buddy-Fox A-10 UFC | 3x TM MFDs | 2x bass shakers pedal plate| SIMple SIMpit chair | WinWing TakeOff panel | PointCTRL v2 | Andre JetSeat | Winwing Hornet UFC | Winwing Viper ICP FC3 - Warthog - F-5E - Harrier - NTTR - Hornet - Tomcat - Huey - Viper - C-101 - PG - Hip - SuperCarrier - Syria - Warthog II - Hind - South Atlantic - Sinai - Strike Eagle
