VEAO & Hawk discussion (please mind the forum rules)

..why only people who have purchased the hawk after October 2018 get a refund ?

Do you seriously expect people to run a single version (2.5.3) of D.C.S to use their product, effectively cutting them out from people flying other planes online ?

Thanks

Oh I know perfectly well why you deleted my thread. Because I told VEAO what they deserved. Don't regret it much. But fair enough/

Besides that, could you or do you know of anyone who could answer the question? Why do some customer get a refund and other not? I'm not sure but i think i bought the hawk on ED. (Going to check that right now)

Given this unfortunate situation, we will fully refund all Hawk customers that purchased the module starting from 1 October 2018. If you wish a full refund, please enter a support request here.

For those that purchased the Hawk prior to 1 October 2018, will continue to make DCS World 2.5.3 available, such that you can still fly the Hawk.

I would also like to know why this date has been selected?

Link to comment

Yes. Confirmed. Bought it on ED page at a 60% discount for an amount of 15.99$, may 29th 2015.

I'm wondering why if that plane gets removed from the current version of the game and future ones, why all hawk customers don't get a refund. Or at least a bonus of that value on future purchases ?

Expecting people to run an older version of the game for just that plane, cut out from the community, just to use their product is kind of a farce.

And I say this as a customer having bought ALL D.C.S modules, some of them more than once..

We felt that people buying within this period wouldn't have had much of a chance to enjoy the module within DCS World before it was removed. People previous to that have had it for quite some time, and as its really out of ED's hands as VEAO is unwilling to allow the continued support, we don't have many more options, it's not realistic to give a refund on funds that mostly went to another team, if that makes any sense.

We didn't want to remove it and did what we could to try and get what we needed to continue support.

With the way the current bonus system works, only being able to knock a couple of dollars of your total, whats the point...

I kina agree. But that's another issue. I don't like much how the bonus system works, but these rules were stated from the beginning and I cannot complain about it.

I have to tell you this "solution" of yours makes me feel left out in the cold. It benefits everyone but your customers.

How about prior customers ( before 1 Oct 2018 ) get a voucher for 10 dollars off their next purchase?

Not sure how you think this benefits us at all? This is a crappy situation we have all been thrust into. We are doing our best with what we have been dealt with, and learning from it to move forward.

That is exactly how I feel/

Especially given the fact that I as a trustee customer, having bought all DcS modules, some of them more than once for gifts.

I understand what you are saying, but we are all taking a hit on this, and while the Hawk isnt available for future versions, it is still available if you really need to take it out for a spin. Its a rock and a hard place we are stuck in.

Not losing anything seems like a benefit, when we lost 15$ , at best :D

Pure speculation:

The October 1st cut off date could for instance be that ED still has the money paid for purchases of the module after this date. None of us know the contract terms between ED and the 3rd party devs (and frankly, it's none of our business), but it isn't that unlikely that the devs receive their money for module sales in set intervals (e.g. monthly, quarterly etc), with certain end-of-contract terms regarding transfer of funds.

But it's not lost completely, we also lost the ability to sell the Hawk, and like it or not we lose some confidence with all of you because of this. It's a hard knock on us all. I mean even personally it's hard coming here and giving this kind of news. We certainly wanted a better outcome.

Let's be honest here.

No serious player is going to maintain a 2.5.3 version just to fly the hawk.. especially given that it won't work with current online servers.

Even if I wanted to, I would not have enough SSD space left with both the open beta and current release version installed already.

I'll be completely honest though. Since may 2015 and my purchase I may have flown the hawk maybe 5 times... I was always hoping that it would be upgraded with something else than a SFM...

But I would certainly have appreciated ED just not telling its customers to take the hit... as I said. Even a small bonus would have been appreciated. It's not about the money. It's not about value of the plane. It's about the gesture. It's about telling your customers there has been an issue we were not guilty of, but we take some responsibilities for it, and you will not only be losers here.

Anyway. I appreciated you taking the time to answer me, and I apologize to you for not following the rules with my first thread/ my anger wasn't directed at ED though.

Ps: I haven't lost any confidence in anyone but VEAO and the clowns who managed it.

I completely understand that ED can't be giving money to disgruntled customers that VEAO left in the dust to begin with, but ED did set a precedent for cleaning up other 3rd party messes with DCS WWII.

Also it's a huge implication that there was anything to enjoy about the Hawk to begin with, I bought it in 2015 and have probably flown it less than an hour in the entirety of the 3/4 years I had it.

Well said.

I bought the Hawk when it was first released. Had great expectations for it but it always looked below par, not able to cut the mustard, with the fast jet types. If the devs were squadron pilots they would have been chopped long ago and given re training! Perhaps the same school Razbam or Heatblur went to;)

Nevermind, the Tomcat is comming, just in time for Tom's new film!

To be honest I was never a VEAO customer. I bought the hawk from ED. It's not my business who their partner with.

It's ED making my product unavailable in my current version of the game.

But I agreee with you' the tomcat is coming and I couldn't care less about the hawk (like you never flew it more than a try out)

I have a solution. Release my early access version of the Turkey tomorrow. I'll take that as a good will gesture :D

As stated in the newsletter, VEAO doesn't want ED to step in, as they are not giving out the source code. This means (to me), that VEAO are trying to sell the same HAWK on another platform (with less requirements for quality compared to DCS).

A well guys and girls. I bought it back in the day for the full price and I don't regret it.

I hate it now and I hated it back then but I always hoped it would be brought to decent level which never came. Like many others you could predict it wasn't going anywhere. That's why I never looked at the so called P40 project.

I don't want money from ED and I don't blame ED. It's VEAO and VEAO only right now that should be professional and say here guys take the basecode and try make the people that paid for it enjoy it. But that is even to much to ask for those m............! They can shove that money somewhere where the skies are not so clear.

ED learned, I learned and I'm glad we got rid of that piece of junk. All I want to see is the so called 3d party devs titles removed and the forum section destroyed. Nuke em nuke em all
