VEAO & Hawk discussion (please mind the forum rules)

You can ask VEAO for compensation. That's a fair request.

Fair but futile.

Only if you bought the module from the VEAO website.

If you bought it from the ED site, your SOL.

Nope. Even if you bought it from ED site, it's a VEAO product.

You can buy tons of apps from Apple or Steam and you don't get a refund if the app or game is not available anymore. In the case of steam a user said after 2 weeks or 2 hours of play.

People think because you bought from an online software store, you have the same rights as buying a TV from Walmart. It is NOT.

The best outlook to have, when buying anything, is that once you take it home it is yours and the money is gone. On occasion the warranty will bail you out from a bad product but most often that is not the case.

The best outlook is to just move on and consider it a lesson learned. Life is too short to worry about the little stuff.

  • ED Team
I have to agree with Cap'n kamikaze on much of this discussion. I fail to see why the Hawk can't be left available to fly in the latest DCS version, with it simply becoming broken over time (if that's unavoidable). It feels like ED has purposely removed the Hawk module, while that may not have been necessary.

Once again, ED doesn't have the source code to create updated dll files for the Hawk in order to keep it in the sim, we asked for them from VEAO, we have yet to be given anything. So without the updated Hawk files or the source code, it cannot and will not work in newer versions of DCS World.

Aw Norm, you are just being negative. Surely you realize that a square peg can be fitted into a round hole if you hammer it enough. It may be effed up beyond all possibility of repair but it will fit. ;)

Yes, I will ask the devs to purchase a bigger hammer ;)

A mallet would be better since we are talking about software.

Happy holidays to you and the family, btw!

:santa:

EDIT: Bet your daughter has given up on that hat by now.

I'd save your big hammer for VEAO :D

Is ED doing/planning anything against VEAO that they're in a position to comment on?

As much as some want something from this (including myself at one point) anything should come out of VEAO's pockets not ED's.

Yes, I understand you don't have the code for the Hawk and cannot, therefore, compile the Hawk's DLL. I was hoping/guessing that the DCS engine (EXE/DLLs) could have been written in such a way that it was backward compatible with aircraft DLLs written/compiled with the older engine versions.

If that's not the case, then my more pressing question about whether all of our third-party modules are exposed to this same risk still holds: If Razbam or Heatblur stop supporting their modules, for example, will we also lose access to them if only running the latest DCS version? Or have all the remaining third-party developers already agreed to provide ED their source code, if needed? ED's official statement doesn't really make that clear.

Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about it too much. Razbam have been around for a long time, they are presumably in a pretty solid position.

Heatblur, having invested a lot into developing the F-14 probably have an unenviable bank balance but once the F-14 is release their accountant will be able to throw the red pens away.

Would current 3rd party devs voluntarily agree for their current projects to an additional 'release your code if it goes south' clause?

They shouldn't have to, they already have agreements, that's why it'd be voluntarily of course in this hypothetical scenario.

I'm pretty sure he means it in a way that we have stakes in ED since it is giving us a combat simulator that is unique in the market and we depend on them. And he was answer the idiotic comment that I own stocks in ED (It seems that the other user doesn't make a difference between a private and public company, after all he thinks that ED making a gesture giving him bonus dollars has no cost to ED)

Eagle Dynamics is a private Company and if memory serves 80% owned by The Fighter Collection (majority shareholder) The Company Eagle Dynamics was set up (again if memory serves) in early 1990s by Igor Tishin (R.I.P.) (20%) and Nick Grey (80%). There is NO stock so maybe you can read up a bit about how business works and the difference between Public (stock Exchange) and Private Companies.

cichlidfan et.al. are well respected members of this community and being abusive only speaks volumes about your attitude over spilt milk. Take your attitude to VEAO direct because they are the problem and you need to bash them, email them with your disdain for their incompetence but stop bashing ED. By the way, don't let the door hit your arse on the way out.

Now take a chill pill and best regards for the future.

A smiley beaming Mizzy :)

I am sure you didn't miss the fact that this was an ironic comment..

Oh wait...

Giving my opinion and stating my position (without it being distorted by pathological liars) as a old trusted customer and supporter isn't bashing. It's just that.

They are the one abusing me first calling me toxic etc .. get your ****ing facts straights before posting falsities. I never addressed any other user on this board before they directly attacked me. So don't reverse the roles. I also don't remember being abusive to the member your cite. Try being honest at least.

Now, take your own pill and beware of not choking on it.

Telling your customers they are on their own with a product they bought from you is not the best way to treat your trusted customer.s Period. And the only reason we (I) keep repeating that, is because you keep distorting the message that was to be passed.

Even a symbolic gesture would have mattered. Try making your brain work around that.

Again, there ARE NO GUARANTEES. ED itself can go out of business just like every other entity. They've said they've taken steps to avert further issues like this, let them run their business. It's THEIR business, not yours. Make backups of your stuff if you're worried about it.

I'm going to take my own advice now and shove off. This thread is deteriorating into nonsense now. After 27 pages people are still asking the same questions that have already been answered dozens of times and wanting their hands held @@ Gamers, smh...

How can i leave this thread is each time I exit it there is somebody attacking me directly ? Shall I remind everyone that I came in here attacking no other posters at all. They have been calling me names etc, simply because we don't share the same opinion in this matter.

There is no limited warantee. Companies protect themselves from customer like you who by their reckless demands hurt their businesses.

But as I see, your understand if how business works is very limited.

You still don't get it, do you?

It has nothing to do with a warrantee/ it has nothing to do with any legal obligation that they didn't have. I'm not sure why you keep arguing the point. It's not even a demand at this point.

If you go back about 25 pages you will see that it was made clear there already
