JTAC Coordinates in Lat/Long for the F/A-18C

Big list of updated/roadmap posted for the 18, but I didn't see any specific mention or any line items that would relate to the addition of MGRS coords for the 18. Anyone have any insight?
I would expect it to come with the completed INS simulation.

I saw "Offset waypoints" planned for 2021 and thought that we would not get the finished nav system until then. Hopfully Im wrong because I have been waiting for it since the Hornet was released in order to interact with JTACs in a reasonable way. As I understand it "Mark points" planned for 2020 are more about marking the position where your aircraft is at. But I might be wrong about that as well.

I've been flying....another "game" and to say using markpoints again was a revelation is an...understatement!

Jtac coordinates MDS MOD for F18

Hello I installed last update MDS Mod for F18 using gbu 12 with Litening Pod.My created Tgt at Pos GG370436 [N41545170 E41514560 at 110ft ]Installed via UFC precise created a Wpt 3 that pointed my liteningpod CCD direct on my target and even without slewiing and after designating gave a perfect hit ! But the Text and Sound from JTAC gives not the correct position.I checked the Map and Lalt+y, the JTAC Coordinates [N41543104 E41512736 at 110ft ]does not bring your Liteningpod CCD on the Tgt,!It looks like they used the wrong Map page.Hopefully Mu 110 can repair it? I send some sreenshots.

Noticed it too, coords seem to be slightly off.

One is in DDM (degrees decimal minutes)

N41545170 = N 41° 54.5170'

E41514560 = E 41° 51.4560'

while the JTAC is using DMS (Degrees Minutes Seconds)

N41° 54' 31.04" (31.04"/60 = 0.5173')

E41° 51' 27.36" (27.36"/60 = 0.4560')

Both sets of coordinates are correct, you just need to enter the correct format into the Hornet's UFC.

To adjust/create a waypoint you'd use DDM with Precise Boxed i.e. N 41° 54.5170'

While programming a PP JDAM i.e. GBU-38 uses DMS + hundredths i.e. N 41° 54' 31" + ENTER + 04

AFAIK the real jet takes both formats plus MGRS, unfortunately input in the DCS Hornet isn't as flexible.

Jtac coordinates MDS MOD for F18

Hello Ramsay thanks for your help,I think that the text and sound of the jtac must be [ N 41° 54.5170' E 41° 51.4560'] . So that you can put this direct into the UFC with precise boxed.Because you do not have to use a calculator anymore.

The latest update adds support for this format, please let me know if you have issues with it as I'm not the most familiar with the Viper.

"Adds support"

Haven't read the readme (naughty me)...

Is this set in an additional settings option, or by default.

I had the old fashioned format in my mission last night.

Thanks.

Jtac coordinates MDS MOD for F18

Hello, I have no idea about F16 but the F18 input for JTAC [ Precise Boxed ] Wpts for Lat and Lon you still needs a calculator to divide the last 4 numbers including the decimals [xx.xx ] by 60 to get the correct position for your litening pod pointing to the exact target position with Wptdsg. Needed for locating a taget [tank] under trees with FLIR.The Jtac info is only correct for Jdam input,then you need no correction [calculator] ! This is in DCS ,the MOD is Correct.:(

You can change between decimal minutes and seconds by going to HSI>DATA>AC and clicking on the LATLONSEC or LATLONDEC in the bottom right (PB15)

Thanks :-)

Just gone through the updates, https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=200724&page=11 Can you point me in the direction of how to change it?

Oh, you're talking about the MOD.

I was referring to someone above saying that ED have finally managed to get it into the sim proper. I know Wags has suggested it's coming, but so are many things.

Whoever can not get this MOD to work, try this:

move the NATO.lua file (the suitable one for your module) into  Saved Games\DCS\Mods\Script\Speech

This did the trick for me after trying several times with JSGME or OVGME.  I use Steam for DCS so that was probably the problem, although all my other mods work fine with JSGME/OVGME

CAS is WAAAAY easier now!  Thank you whoever made this mod!

Hello , thanks for this mod but , is it possible that the script provides the 3 coordinates (DMS DM DD) in the JTAC message, to avoid having to copy the correct version of the script in the folder ?
