Can't be true that Razbam does not want to fix that annoying issue...

It's on their bug tracker, so how do you reach that conclusion?

Then you know more than me, I couldn't tell how long this problem takes to properly identify and finally fix. Kudos to you, I guess.

I tried to replicate that bug, but I can't.

I used Instant Action/ Take Off mission.

I flew low level, turning Rad Alt On/ Off, I climbed from low altitude with Rad Alt On to above to 10 000ft, then back down to 500ft, I landed with Rad Alt On...my FPS never changed.

I will try in more populated environment...

I tried to replicate that bug, but I can't.

The old behaviour was ...

With the RAlt on,

FPS was normal initially

but after time/flight at altitude (20 min ?)

FPS would fall when near the ground

FPS would recover if the RAlt was turned OFF and back ON.

IIRC the old behaviour was repeatable i.e. you could fly another 20 min before FPS would drop again

I'm not sure if/how the behaviour changed in 2.5.4.x

It's possible you'll need to be airborne for a while to see the bug or perhaps it was a DCS issue that's been fixed.

Yes, I missed that. I have been advised MP and will test accordingly.

It doesn't really matter though :D

Any news on this bug being worked on?

Got the Mirage recently and this is happening every time I play the mirage, for the first 20m or so of the flight I can use the radar altimeter, after that as long as it is on my frames drops from 60 to 12 until I turn it off. And the off/on thing doesn't fix it for me, need to get a new plane for that.

Went for two longish flights getting comfortable with the enw HUD/PCA behaviour: no FPS drop with radar altimeter on. Will try out longer missions in MP, where I had the problem the most often, and report again.

New to the Mirage and only had some short SP flights to date.

Today I did a longer SP flight at high altitude.

Coming in for approach at Fujairah on PG map getting below I think 5000ft, which would be engaging radar altimeter height, my in cockpit frames dropped to 3 to 5.

F2 outside view everything was fine. Managed to get up to higher alt and in cockpit frames where back to normal. Tried the approach three times and got always the same, so I quit the mission in air.

I'm on stable branch DCS/2.5.5.33184.

Will see if it's repeatable and will try switching off radar altimeter to see if this helps.

Jens

Hello,

so I repeated same kind of mission.

Please find trackfile attached and some more details in the zip-file here: track, log, mission and screenshots

Radar altimeter was set to on from the beginning.

I spent some time trying to refuel at 20.000ft.

After that I descended to below 5000 feet. At first frame dropped just a bit. I think from about 60 to 40. Switching off radar alt brought back the lost fames.

While descending lower and lower and approaching I repeatedly switched the radar altimeter switchon and of again.

With radar alt on, frames dropped to 12 or 14, with radar alt off, they were normal.

14fps radar alt on

48fps radar alt off

38fps radar alt off

12fps radar alt on

I hope this helps to find something.

Jens

The only way I found to avoid this bug is to turn ON the altimeter only in critical phases. I think this bug is related to an extended use of the altimeter.

It's strange but I had this bug for the first time today. I was flying an approach to Kutaisi at about 5000 ft MSL with the radar altimeter on and the radar in EM, suddenly my frame rate dropped heavily.

I remembered seeing something about this and put my radar into SIL which did nothing but as soon as put it into standby my frame rate was good again and the game was smooth. I did not test the radar altimeter.

The strange thing is I am sure that I flew pretty much the same approach 2 days ago with the same configuration and did not have this problem.

So now I am unsure whether it is the radar or radar altimeter but will test. However obviously putting the radar into standby worked for me with the radar altimeter still on.
