GA productions presents: *EDGE* - New Black Shark movie

Recommended Posts

Well GA already said time and time before that his movies don't really represent the real Black Shark product, the gameplay yes, but the graphics and sound is tweaked a little. However, much of what you see is in fact in the game.

There are other BS videos out there that just shows the actual game footages so they are doing their job. What's wrong with one beta tester who just want to have some fun and make a movie?

I know Witchking and they're trying, as you can see. Just giving you a heads up - it really is an experiment right now.

ED wants BS to be perfect in all aspects, bugfree and many new features and goodies.. If the running soldoers is an experiment, then my question is: is BS ready for release?

Infantry!!!!!!!! Wooohhaaaa!!!

I bet ED will sell more copies if working infantry is in BS! (it is a very important feature for a helo sim.)

If FPS goes down with this, I will buy a faster PC.:D

But yes, I keep in mind that BS with LOMAC and FC stuff is both a jet and a helo sim. Or isn`t it?

Testers, Mod, GA... One question.... How close are the sounds of the KA-50 to those that GA has used in the movie... I fear I may spend all of my time outside in the F2 / F3 view listening to that blade slap if it sounds like GA's...!

Once again GA, bloody nice job...

Excellent video, really great. The only regret I have is that all the talented video makers from various gaming communities seem to be always using the same music themes.

The tanks and vehicles models are nicely done maybe ED will realize a tank simulator in the future :)

If ED, Bohemia Interactive and Esimgames would work together to release a simulator, it would be a killing !

Well to be honest... and I'd also say realist... having a fully ckickable pit is indeed very nice to have, it simply brings to us what we've all been whyning about: REALISM :D

On the other hand you don't need to move your head and try to jugle with your head while flying to flip switches in real life... from this perspective doing this in a sim is actually much harder.

Trying Falcon4 and RV... I was just thinking: who the hell is gonna remmember all these commands... or even half of them? It's absurd. You need on average to press 3-4 keys combinations for each... just not my thing.

I will most definitely try to set up all things required BEFORE take off... and have on HOTAS things I will NEED to se in combat... nothing else... and I hope I will have enough possibilities for that and not need to make things overly complicated, which would just defeat the purpose.

Anyway... like Hitman said... I bet 1/2 those switches I'll never ever use... heck, I probably won't even know what they are used for.

On the up side... with all the switch functionality at least all the systems should we modeled well and working... talking about simulation aye ;)

There are switches I still don't know the meaning of . . . . tooltips will be your friend!

The good news, of course, is that the Ka50 has been designed to be set up before combat and flown through HOTAS - as a single-seat attack chopper it would be impossible to fight in otherwise.

There are a couple of switches or buttons that might have to be used while in combat . . . but let's be honest, we'll cheat and map those to HOTAS as well ;)

I do feel sorry for the people who might try and fly this sim with an ordinary joystick, though.

Actually . . . . let me rephrase that. You can fly the Ka50 with an ordinary joystick. It's just nearly impossible to use any on-board systems at the same time, pretty much limits you to rocket and gun runs.

Oh, and the "MFD" is only used for navigation. It's a magic bit of kit, very powerful and versatile if you want to use it to the extremes . . . but to be honest, switching it to moving-map mode is usually function enough.

IMO this is not good for the game! With all the effects added you get a broad overview of what is in the game ala clickable cockpit, graphics and such but things like the sounds could be effects and not real.

So now they hype this thing to the moon and when it comes out and the users do not see what he saw in the movie he is peed off and for a couple of months after release the boards are flamewar-r-us.

ED of course is sitting back smiling all the way and can already see dollars rolling in, cause with all that hype it should sell well won't it. Will worry about the why this and why that questions later!!!

:(

I clearly state at the end of the video that it has been edited with sound and visual effects. This is not uncommon for other game promos as well.

Yes, but you and I both know that people don't read. :) So I understand his reservations. I have the same problem on my website. No matter how boldly I state something, there's always someone asking for a solution to a problem which was already listed right next to the download.

In your case, people watch the movie and leave. I'll bet over half of the people who watch the video, don't stay around for the credits. Those who do stay are usually looking for specific information like "What song was that?" and overlook the rest.

Yup, i agree..

Next time, maybe ill add the "disclaimer" text at the very beginning, so people will be forced to read it.

Better flashing in the center throught whole video.

GA! Don't bother. It's not an official trailer. We all know what was tuned and what wasn't (...well, almost) and we love it.

Ok, regarding the sounds:

The cockpit interior sounds of the engine is how it sounds in-game as of now.

So are the sounds of the guns fired from inside the cockpit.

The rest though, is a blend of some in-game sounds mixed with other more "movie-like" sounds. Many sounds are actually from "saving private ryan" ;)

I always watch the credits. I like the montage at the end too.

And yes, i did see the disclaimer at the end. (as i have seen in Project 50 and others) unfortunately, the noobs that don't realize this fact form the beginning (that the audio and visuals have been edited) also don't take the time to watch the movie in it's entirety.

Too bad... :(

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

Hehe yeah, maybe. :P

Oh and for those wanting to see pure in-game Black Shark gameplay, watch the credits. I only made the clips black and white, thats it. So it's not a 100% completely edited movie. :P

just thinking out loud...

I know it would be less challenging to make a movie like what I'm about to propose, (and maybe ED's nd rules won't allow it), but just a simple movie about BS in action with no glitz, no enhancements of any sorts, and maybe even shot in black and white? Sort of like recording a mission track? It wouldn't need to be very long to suit me. Just a takeoff, maybe forming up with a few other BS helos, and assault a worthy opponent, all seen from inside the cockpit(outside views disabled) to really showcase the TIR 6dof? Something like that would really put us in the pilot's seat if only for a few minutes. It would hold me until BS came out (not! I'd want m ore to be honest)

just thinking out loud,

Flyby out

GA - Great job as always - loved the After Effects debut! A couple of the scenes looked like real life footage - awesome :-)
