DCS Server Control

Recommended Posts

It can’t be a ports thing. Mine was working fine until an update broke it.

Mine. Was working fine both in local GUI and through the web based GUI so it must be something in the program that’s causing it maybe dcs server has a bug in it somewhere? Something that’s stopping it from talking to the GUI?

Guys,

I just did the latest update and now I can't run DCS. The update succeed but DCS will not run. I am getting the following error in the logs:

2019-08-16 01:46:28.815 INFO GRAPHICSVISTA: renderer: 'dx11backend.dll'

2019-08-16 01:46:29.153 ALERT DX11BACKEND: Your graphics card does not support DirectX11 features

2019-08-16 01:46:29.153 INFO DX11BACKEND: DX11Renderer::shutdown()

2019-08-16 01:46:29.158 ERROR GRAPHICSVISTA: DirectX backend initialization error

2019-08-16 01:46:29.158 ERROR VISUALIZER: SceneManager initialization failed

2019-08-16 01:46:29.158 INFO DCS: application shutdown

Prior to the update everything was fine. I was looking forward to playing with Harpoon on the F/A-18 C. Now I would be happy just to get the game to startup again.

Sounds like you are talking about the game and not the dedicated server?!

Welcome to the "webGUI Blues" we're all trying to figure it out, do you have any more info for us? the more info we have the more likely we are to figure this one out

EDIT: I think my problems were just loading a big mission. All seems to work ok if I give the server a few minutes to load up properly.

so you did manage to get the web GUI to work?

Hi guys. I have figured out a workaround that appears to be working for me. I can access the web GUI just fine with this trick.

I launch DCS using this command:

"C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\bin\DCS.exe" --server --force_disable_VR -w server1

As you can see, I have taken out the --norender option.

I disabled rendering and added the following my autoexec.cfg:

options.graphics.maxfps = 30
options.graphics.render3D = false
crash_report_mode = "silent"
disable_write_track = true
webgui_port = 8088

it runs in dedicated server mode but you do not get the awesome performance as you do when using the --norender option. this allows me to access the server via webGUI. AI on the ground also work as normal this way as well. Maybe this will work for some of you guys as well.

My server works perfectly, in --norender --server mode. But when I go on the WebGUI interface I have this message:

I specify that my port 10308 and 8088 are open on my box

I'm currently exploring the hypothesis that you have to have IIS installed properly and enabled to get localhost working, how to do that is not abundantly obvious to me on Win10 Server but perhaps one angle worth exploring

My server is running on Windows Server 2012, IIS role not added and server control work since day 1. I don't think that IIS is mandatory.

Web GUI always fails to connect for me. I used a port check and it says 8088 is open. Do these timeouts along the way to eagle.ru explain why?

Not necessarily. Some nodes do not respond to ping (that's normal) but in that trace your connection works. I thing it's something related to software (DCS) and for some people works and others don't. I bet they hadn't figure out yet what It is.

Obviously the dashboard works at home on my main PC, when I launch the dedicated server on my gaming PC but when I run it on my second local PC that serves as server support, WebGUI does not see the server. Could this come from the java file that allows the connection to the server?

Are you using stable DCS build? Openbeta? Dedicated server build? Which OS, browser and version?

It seems that regular DCS version is working for some people when not using '--norender' parameter. And also people using it from the beginning seems to work ok. Those who installed it on latests updates and for the first time on a given machine are the ones having troubles, including me. At least that is what it seems.

For me it's not working either on local or remote. The server itself works and appears in the DCS web when logged into my profile. People can connect and everything, but web console cannot connect to the server.

My dedicated server, runs on windows 10, it's an open beta version. I'm trying to run the dashboard on Firefox version 68.0.2 64bit. What I can not understand is why it works on my PC gaming using the same OS and the same browser and why it does not work on my PC that serves as my server ...

Well... That's funny. So, for you it works from another PC on your LAN but not locally where the server is running if I understand correctly... Another thing to add to the list. LOL

That's a non sense :-(. It has to be something related to the way they've developed the web interface and the way they query the socket. I'm using that Firefox version too. Needs further testing I guess...

Help us Eagle Dynamics, Your our only hope.

Has anyone heard anything from ED on this yet? are they even aware of the problem?

it's at the stage now where it's clear there is nothing we can do about it, the issue is inconsistent and none of the workarounds work in any significant quantity

Heres what we do know:

- All of our servers work, can be seen, connected to and played on no problem

- all of our ports are open, forwarded and working fine

- some of us (using DS) have been able to connect in the past, until the bug

- some of us have never been able to connect

- cant connect in any way, local, LAN, internet

- some of the ones not using the ds version can connect but only if they use -norender some not

we can sit here for months trying to figure this out and we will end up in the same place. how do we bring this to ED's attention because this is getting ridiculous, we all have the same issue but no way of fixing it its time for ED to step up and help us?

whats the best way to get them to see this and start helping us?

this post also has people asking the question

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=239614&page=18

as an attempt to get their attention I will see if posting this post in a new thread.

EDIT:

Here is the new thread, please head here and let's fix this bug!

This thread has become to large and bulky if you are having a bug, it is always better to open a new bug thread with all the information you can about your issues. Just tagging on to these threads, or on to someone else thread won't help.

That thread you pointed to seems like the OPer figured out his issue, and doesn't seem related to yours at all.
