I hope this plane doesn't disappoint people. Remember, it's an old airplane with older systems and logic.

After the major breakthroughs we had with the Hornet, you must realise you're stepping back.

Im exactly the opposite. I love the older systems and logic. Especially since it's still SO capable even using the older systems and logic. There is a charm to it that can't really be found in modern jets. It's one of the main reasons why I enjoy flying the warbirds, there is a satisfaction in shooting down an enemy or successfuly completing a mission (and landing) there that simply can't be matched. Well, that's my opinion anyway.

Preciselly the same here.

For me for instance, the old, archaic HUD symbology (the weapons sights, employment parameters, target symbols, etc.) are of a unique character of themselves.

In many aspects the F-14 was indeed a pioneer.

I too love older jets. That's why I pre-purchased it and keep refreshing the steam page.

My point is that, over all this hype, some people may not have figured it is an older airframe. Being used to the Hornet, the technical abyss is enormous.

More than any other thing that pertains to the body it partakes of the nature of the divine." — Plato, Phaedrus.

I understand you.

Although the Tomcat itself also does have a lot of features, regarding sensors / avionics / etc; their interface with the crew is more analogical, as with the Hornet this interface is much digital already.

Yep, I get it. The thing is, even being so much older and less automated in many ways the Tomcat is a much simpler airframe to get to grips and fly with. Being part of a two man crew is definitely the main reason why this is, but the design itself is somehow simple and efficient.

Now fighting in it (especially in Air-to-Air) is probably a whole different matter, but I would definitely put it in the "easy to learn, hard to master" category.

It's already been a year and if you ask me it surely felt like "busting the tower"! A year of amazement and thrill, study and practice, discovery and wonder.

Heatblur - thank you for realising my childhood dream and for delivering more than I ever hoped for. Your F-14B set new standards and broke a couple of "unbreakable" limits for DCS. I personally think that it also helped to push this Sim forward in a direction we all want it to go: higher & faster! Thank you for this magnificent time and for the ability to enjoy every feature and aspect of this legendary aircraft that is the Tomcat, with all her pros and cons modelled to the very bolt and nut.

Don't lose hope, focus on the positives and keep up the great work you are doing! We are ready for more!

Never say never, Baby!
