grunf Posted March 14, 2019 Posted March 14, 2019 (edited) Both radios have the ability to simultaneously monitor selected frequency/channel and guard frequency (243MHz). On the front seat radio (AN/ARC-159) this is activated by setting the Function selector to BOTH (image in DCS: F-14B manual, p. 21, indicator 8 ). On the back seat radio (AN/ARC-182) guard monitoring is activated by setting MODE knob (manual p. 108, konb 7) to T/R & G. This feature does not work on both radios. Edited April 1, 2019 by IronMike

You can only hear the radio transmission if you are tuned to the guard channel or set a channel to 243.00. Does not work in Hornet either. Edited December 14, 2020 by ruxtmp
Robin885 Posted December 16, 2020 Posted December 16, 2020 Little off topic, but have you enabled guard reception on the radio you wish to use in the hornet via the UFC? Otherwise it won't work I can confirm however that it doesn't seem to work in the Tomcat
