He just said it wasnt.

Umm...I just had this problem the other day too. Check your device manager and look to see if you see realtek usb 2.0 audio for sound. The microphone runs off the same USB and should be the same thing under sound/mic settings.

Reverb Problems

So I've had my Reverb now since January and I was blown away. The quality of the graphics and being able to actually see targets and text (in cockpit) has been amazing. Last month, however, my Reverb starting what I can only describe as having a stroke when I play. It will not for the life of it stay centered during flights. I have tried various lighting sources and have been met with no change. This is especially strange because the many hours I logged from Jan to Apr were without problems. I don't know what to do at this point. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I knew there was a warranty but did not know it was 2 year. Awesome, I will definitely do that. I keep trying to enter the SN in the HP website but says not found ... interesting. Might have to call them
I dunno I'm from the US and bought directly from HP it says 1 year. This may vary in Europe I suppose.

I'm in the US, I bought it on amazon. I've only had it since January
Yes you should be within the warranty of HP, contact them. I had to do a return on my first one and the sales team had to order me another one. For some reason they wouldn't do an advance RMA and I also have the pro version.

I've had this headset for almost a month now (mid-April), but this thing is a real headache. Whenever I'm loading from the menu into the actual game, I get about a 50-70% success rate of actually being able to get in the cockpit without the headset, game or steamVR crashing. Just tonight I had my worst success rate yet, 2 successful loads in about 8 attempts (3 full PC restarts among them). It's ridiculous. When this headset works, it is pretty good. I'm not sure I can fly virtual helicopters again with just TrackIR now. But multiplayer may as well not exist in vr for me.

Is it a me issue? My rig? Windows? Steam? DCS?

My CPU and Ram are quite old now which might be contributing to the issue (4770k@4.3 & 16GB@1600mhz), and I am looking to upgrade them anyways, but I would think the GPU (an RTX 2080) is more than sufficient. I was hoping to wait for the new AMD socket before upgrading my CPU but maybe it is better to expedite that? Or should I return it while I can and just get a OR-S/Valve Index?

I've been looking at setup guides for this headset but not really seeing anything major, and what I do change does not fix the loading issues. This is a 500+ page thread so don't mind me skimming.

so its definitely not the headset generically , mine works fine.

so there could be a number of problems

1) headset is broken

2) hardware below spec, RAM is the only thing i could maybe point my finger at (you need above 16mb for reliable MP)

3) software problem (most likely), what versions of Windows, Steam VR, and video card drivers are you running, and what are your configs

Or perhaps your USB out, use another one, a 3.0 one, a proper hub with separate power, could be 2.0 or 3.0 actually, get an adapter cable to free motherboard USB pins to try, though you never know which will work when. My previous board had lots of USB issues, my new board had still, but I have created so many options, it now works stable on a few.

I'll try one of my more reliable USBs. Not sure what details in the config might matter. I pretty much keep everything at native res and have not changed many things from my normal DCS settings. Never had the loading issue though until I tried using the reverb. I'll look into adding another 16GB maybe. Would really rather wait for the new AMD socket CPU's.

Might be worth mentioning I have not had any other issues aside from DCS.

@PallyWoods

I have same issue with popular MP servers with complex missions. DCS will crash 1 out of five times when loading into the server.

Even sometimes will crash multiple times in a row. My headset rests on a stand and I sometimes use the windows desktop preview to click the DCS menus (not wearing the headset)... once I failed to load for a succession of 20 mins and then the headset went to sleep and SteamVR closed out while loading a MP server!

What I have found is on popular servers with heavy missions is it can take a very long time to download the mission components, (multiple triggers, units, players info, mission mp3 audio files etc) and as it is Downloading the data it is transferring it to memory and un-compressing graphics & shaders into video memory --- it can take so long that windows thinks DCS has crashed and self terminates or asks to "close program" or "wait". I noticed for friends on discord it is much much worse if you don't have a SSD or have a slower CPU.

Once the MP server loads my RAM is utilising 18GB (about 15GB commit for DCS) and GPU mem is using 10GB.

I have found some improvement if I first load & start a dummy mission in the mission editor; and of course load the same map that the MP server uses. This pre-loads a lot of game data into Video memory and RAM. This removes some of the work required during the load MP server process. Then leave the dummy mission, back to the MP list & load the MP server.

(Might be completely wrong, but noticed it improves my hit rate when joining a MP server - if someone wants to correct my assumption please share your knowledge)

Currently using stable (non-beta) version of SteamVR and public beta version of WindowsMixedRealityforSteamVR.

Had exact same problem with Rift-S, don't think it is a Reverb specific issue.

I noticed this because always had less problems opening servers with less players, lower ping and less complexity of missions.

Guys I’m preparing to setup my Reverb arriving tomorrow and I got already a hard stop.

Microsoft site says I can’t run mixed reality, see picture.

My hardware in in the signature, any ideas?

Looks like you need to update your nvidia driver. You won't be able to run a reverb on Intel graphics very smoothly.

Why does that screen not match your hardware ? Did you do something funky commissioning the 'puter ? Looks to me like you need to reinstall Windows . (Or the WMR check is bugged , in which case ignore it)
