Wrightie Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 When watching replays (only the Tomcat) they don't play properly the don't seem to replay my actual flight. The plane will ditch into the sea, land either side of the carrier, i watched the replay of shooting down an F4, i lauched and nose dived straight away today, it stayed on speed but flew right over the carrier????? Very baffling I never had this issue with tbe Hornet or the Eagle. I was on the stable version before the Tomcat so maybe this is the issue?? Has anyone else noticed this and more importantly is there a fix or going to be a fix?
norbot Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 (edited) The replay is bugged since ages (https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=218924). It happened quite often to me even with the F/A-18C. During the mission I landed on deck of the carrier, during replay my aircraft exploded on deck or in the water, left or right of the carrier. Edited March 20, 2019 by norbot
Wrightie Posted March 20, 2019 Author Posted March 20, 2019 Very strange. Never had the issue before the Tomcat. Are you using the Stable or Beta version may i ask?

TonyG Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Long known problem with DCS far before the Tomcat. 9800X3D, MSI 5080 , G.SKILL 64GB DDR5-6000, Win 11, MSI X870, 2/4TB nVME, Quest 3, OpenHornet Pit
Strikeeagle345 Posted March 20, 2019 Posted March 20, 2019 Tomcat seems to be affected more by this problem. I could take off from land bases in the Hornet and watch an entire mission with my buddies. However, with the Tomcat, it is all FUBAR and will just crash and bounce around on the ground. Probably an ED issue where it isnt grabbing the inputs correctly. Nealius Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 It really bugs me when people say that replays are broken for all modules. It's a perpetuated myth. I can get almost all of my modules to replay correctly as long as I avoid certain repeatable quirks that will break them. The Tomcat, however, has less reliability than all of those modules. It has gotten better with this hotfix, though. Previously tracks would break as soon as you started taxiing. Now, after the hotfix, I can get about 15 minutes of proper behavior before the track breaks.
Gianky Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 I can get almost all of my modules to replay correctly as long as I avoid certain repeatable quirks that will break them. Could you please elaborate on the above and share it with us? I have many tracks, mostly long tracks (1+ hour missions in the Hornet) that I'd like to rewatch without cursing because they break. Thanks.
TonyG Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 Flying off a carrier seems to be the biggest thing with breaking replays. I’ve had a low departure off a carrier in Hornet show me fly into the sea after 20 seconds. This was months ago before the Tomcat. Flying from land to the carrier isn’t generally an issues, but after that first landing, all bets are off. I don’t think you can put this on the Tomcat. 9800X3D, MSI 5080 , G.SKILL 64GB DDR5-6000, Win 11, MSI X870, 2/4TB nVME, Quest 3, OpenHornet Pit

Three off the top of my head: The Hornet doesn't like stopping on the carrier. You can take off from land, do bolters-and-go's on the deck for hours and the replay track will work fine. But if you trap, then taxi to a cat and launch off, the track will break from that point. The Harrier doesn't like GBUs or getting hit with ground fire. Replay tracks will play perfectly up until the point you drop a GBU, or get shot. Then they'll go haywire. Spitfire tracks go nuts if you don't clear out your fxo and metashaders2 folders. Now what's interesting is that the Harrier does not have problems operating from a carrier, and neither does the A-4E. Oh, and AI don't play too nicely with tracks because their flight paths are apparently not recorded by the replay system, and thus they are still a live-AI making real-time decisions during the replay track. Wrightie Posted March 21, 2019 Author Posted March 21, 2019 Interesting that certain conditions can break the replays. I've watched lots of Hornet and Eagle replays and not seen this weird behaviour until installing the Beta and the Tomcat. Is it something that will be fixed?
oldpop Posted March 21, 2019 Posted March 21, 2019 tracks Just flew a a2g mission in F14, and saved the track. played it back 3 times, different each time. mission bombed a line of truck on rw no problem. First time played \. missed trucks, second time hit trucks, but crashed just past rw, third crashed shor to tgts?:cry:f14g.trk
lancerr Posted March 22, 2019 Posted March 22, 2019 This is not a bug. This is a really advanced multiverse feature that shows what could have happened in alternate timelines. Infinite possibilities every time you replay. Sent from my SM-N960U1 using Tapatalk
KaMe_90 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 Yeah this is really annoying... I just had a dogfight vs 3 hornets, my 2 wingmans go splashed and I finished all 3. And watching the replay my mig-29 just crashed into the ground before we even merged..... i7 6700 - 16GB RAM - GTX 1060 6GB - 1TB Samsung 860 Evo SSD - Thrustmaster T16000m H.O.T.A.S - Delanclip Headtraker.
