DCS Carrier Discussion

Apologies if this has been answered, couldn't find anything on this.

The only map where a carrier can be used (carrier couldn't enter caucasus) is the gulf.

In reality, a strike group would never enter the strait as the risks would be too high.

If you place a carrier just outside the map grid, would this cause any issues or bugs e.g. Nav points, tacan, false bearing readings etc?

As long as you put it on water, it will be fine.

you can go into the mission file & edit the spawn point to anywhere, and / or give yourself unlimited fuel & fly anywhere, and the world still works consistently - though it gets pretty boring in the hinterland.

Cheers.

Not sure if this is OT, but it speaks to the question.

"If you place a carrier just outside the map grid, would this cause any issues or bugs e.g. Nav points, tacan, false bearing readings etc?"

I just flew on the PG map from Shiraz in Iran to Tbilisi (actually Gamarjaveba 1) in Georgia.

The moving map had me on the airport, the co-ordinates reported in F2, and me 6km East of the tarmac.

On the PG map, there's nothing but sand in Georgia, but everything in the DCS.world worked fine.

I agree with your logic/reasoning but they normally announce a EA release several months/weeks in advance. It would be an ideal release for the Hornet since we are in a peroid of slow patch releases, and the Christmas money floating around. If it's not released prior to the end of the year it will probably be late Q1 2020 for sure.

Yeah, my guess was end of the year. But we haven't had much news wise on it for a while, so maybe delayed.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

If they make it available on the 27th (I'd be more than a little surprised; I think aircraft have them pretty busy) I'll buy it on the 27th. Pretty simple metric.

Then again. I'm Pavlov's mod-buyer. Still have more to learn than time to learn it, so if there are no updates for a while I can get caught up. Getting caught up shouldn't take me more than five or six years.

We don´t have yet pre-order sale so my guess it will take awhile until we land on the Supercarrier module... :(

Ok. Now my ears have perked up. Now I'm interested again. My guess is, the video won't be ready for tomorrow, so maybe next Friday.

Supercarrier would be great. A buzzing environment on the deck compare to the souless Stennis now.

I am wondering, would there be a manual to especially explain the hands signs of the deck crew?

Hope so.

But I see another huge problem. Those 2 seconds made me feel that we won't like to take off from the boat but taxi around the whole day. ;)

Yeah, I get your point. Staying on deck to savor the scenery and enjoy the company of deck crews.

But the new comms would be as interesting too during takeoff and carrier landing .

The Air Boss is always angry, and you'll spend more time in PriFly getting new orifices reamed than flying if you don't know your deck procedures. First time you turn off idle it will take at least six months before the FNAEB concludes, and DCS might take your Hornet away...

Don’t forget that the airboss position can take by a real person. :D
