Finally... Upgraded...

Well, I gotta say, going from my old 980m/4720hq laptop to a proper 9700k/2080ti desktop has been an improvement.

Still futzing about with new settings, but aside from downtown Dubai I'm pulling steady 45's in most areas with reasonably high settings. 2x msaa 1.5pd, with actual shadows! and Trees! glorious trees! I did try 4x msaa and that did look a bit more clear, but even the 2080 ti started to choke on that. I guess I'll trawl through all the 2080ti guys settings to see what works best.

New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, HP Reverb (formermly CV1)

Old-N-busted: i7 4720HQ ~3.5GHZ, +32GB DDR3 + Nvidia GTX980m (4GB VRAM) :joystick: TM Warthog. TrackIR, Rift CV1 (yes really).

Which plane are you flying mostly? I just put a 2080ti in my 8700k machine and it made some improvements, but the TGP and Maverick displays in the A-10C still really mess with the ASW. I never see the frames drop below 45, but I still get the splitting images when I look to the side. Its only in the A-10C, and only when the TGP and/or Mavericks are displaying an image.

Congrats on the upgrade! Is it just me, or can you see more detail and depth with the 2080ti?

I think the part I like the most is checking myself out in the mirror in the F14, like a proper fighter bro ;)

The Tomcat has the best virtual pilot of them all. If you get the chance, sit RIO with another VR user up front and have a conversation. You can actually see their head bob as they speak, it is simply awesome.

I also went with a 9700k and 2080ti upgrade, recently. I don’t have any groundbreaking tips, I’m still sitting around 45 with everything turned way up in amazement.

Harli, fiddle with your system a bit. Mine is very similar and with everything except heatblur on max/high/ultra I have yet to drop below 45 and most time it hovers in the 70+ range.

Good stuff. I ditched MSAA and turned PD up to 2.1. Anisotropic filtering to 16x makes a noticeable difference for very little performance drop. Everything else on high.

Terrain shadows flat, cockpit shadows medium. Global illumination off. Rain on.

In fact I'll dig out one of my old threads which you may find helpful.... first test of DCS using 2080TI. DCS has moved on a bit since then.

Edit. Here it is.

Great to see you updated your rig,.

Control is an illusion which usually shatters at the least expected moment.

Gazelle Mini-gun version is endorphins with rotors. See above.

Set shadows 'flat only' on the left an right column. After this you can run 4x msaa. I get 45 FPS with 4x msaa and 16 AF.

Still hope that the 50% update show up today :D

Depending on what I was doing setting wise (4x msaa) I was getting drops into the 30's in downtown dubai, and low mountain flying in the caucuses. I'll need to do some optimization for sure.

Anyone know how to get rid of the "trees" popping in/out of existence effect? It annoys the hell out of me.

The Caucausus map has been optimized. They are working the other maps...per WAGS or NineLine...could not remember which one. I tried looking for the Thread to reference.
