Mig-21 Sound busted

Recommended Posts

Especially the external sounds of the MIG-21 were quite bad,

as seen in many posts in this forum, but now not even missiles or

especially the gun is to be heard from inside the cockpit, after the last update stable.

Also from the outside, the MIG 21 sounds like a Boeing 787....

I thought only the A-10 sounds were damaged, and on purpose I stay in the

DCS stable version so that this things do not happen....

These issues have been fixed on open beta if it helps

Well, thank you very much for your help, but as I wrote before,

is it not the on purpose of the DCS stable version that this things do not happen?

Let's hope they transfer the corrections you pointed out to the stable version soon,

and hopefully stop damaging the good things wich were perfectly ok, as has happened with

both the MIG 21 AND the A-10 sounds.

Just updated to STABLE version 2.5.4.30386

Internal sound is now OK, but from the outside,

the MIG 21 sounds like a Boeing 787....

And yes at any sound level / setting.

The sampling is feels low quality? I honestly can't go into detail, I'm not a sound guy. Either way, the afterburner crackle sounds great, but the engine sound could use a higher bit-rate I imagine.

It is not the sampling, the external sound is far too quiet compared with the internal sound.

With any sound setting....

Well, my issue lies with the quality, at the very least. That said, I do also agree that it's too quiet.

Great, I'm glad you agree.

Hopefully the devs will do something about it.

Guys is there a sound pack as a mod to make the Mig-21 external sound nicer. That aircraft is a blast and the interior sounds are also really good. However, the external sounds are just atrocious. They feel like place holder from the early alpha days that were never developed.

I am pretty sure someone/somewhere did a mod for better sounds. But I found nothing in the User Files section of the web site.

Aware of something?

You could not have said ir better:

"the external sounds are just atrocious" Indeed.

No mods that I am aware of.

Let's hope that the developers see this thread,

until now no replies from them ......

Hiromachi has been made aware of this in other threads, actually.

When he adds power you can hear the jetpipe blowing. Can't really tell when he switches reheat on. When he reduces the power you can hear the compressor whistling. And yeah, that really looks like a nose wheel shimmy at the end.

After today's DCS World RELEASE STABLE UPDATE 2.5.5.34864 THE MIG-21 STILL

sounds in external view like a Boeing 787 Dreamliner..........

And the afterburner is nowhere to be seen.

There wasn't an update, today.

The last update to stable was the 10th of September.

I'm on open beta (which, currently, is the same as stable) and I have afterburner flames and sound.

Though, the quality of the sound samples leave much to be desired, IMO.

I just noticed while playing online, that when I see someone else in a Mig 21, the sound completely disappears from the front external view once they go into AB. While there is no sound from the front, it sounds normal from the back. This was observed to happen while the mig was on the ground. As soon as AB is turned off, you can hear the engine again.

The external sound is pretty much the default sounds but slightly altered. So they sound like the c101 and hawk (when it was in game) and all the other ai. It has been an issue for so long.

Whilst I share the frustrations constantly posting the same message isn't going to change anything, at this point it's just pointless spam.

You don't date much do ya?:megalol:

If at first you don't succeed, try again. That is how you get things done.

The simple fact is sound needs to be fixed.

MIG 21 sounds nothing like the real thing, inside and outside the cockpit.

They're kind of doing a whole cockpit and world model revamp. That's going to take precedence over sound.

This is not a huge team, they can't do much in parallel.

Sure.

But importance of good sound design cannot be overstated.

It can make average module good.Imagine what it could do to MIG 21.

I do not know whether you agree or not,but current sounds are just awful.

At least they could use MIG 23 externals as a placeholder.

Short of dreadful engine sounds, this is an excellent module.

Such a shame.
