Boagord
Hello there, If you are goint supersonic (ie M1.2) you can go very high (too high). I was able to reach angel 90 the first time ( ran out of fuel) and 100 the second time ( stall). IceFire
Not unusual. F15 can do the same among other fighters like the MIG-29 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Matt "IceFire" Schuette Commander In Chief United States Atlantic Command Virtual Carrier Air Wing Eleven

Boagord
btw: Was it zoom climb or normal constant attitude climb? As you can see on tacview, it was a constant attitude climb. The key is to avoid to fall subsonic. On a lot of plane, M0.9 is the optimal climbrate, but here, it climbs better at around M1.2 It is only my personnal experience. draconus
As you can see on tacview, it was a constant attitude climb. Then it's far from OK. I tested clean F-14 and with full AB and constant climb around 5 degrees up I easily got up to 95k ft. That is plain wrong. I would expect it to stall around 50k. Try that stunt with F-15C and you'll only get to 65k before stalling which is correct behavior. Any higher you can get only by zoom climbing. There's this thing called service ceiling and it should be much lower for the Tomcat than it is now. eatthis
how high will she go on military power only? 7700k @5ghz, 32gb 3200mhz ram, 2080ti, nvme drives, valve index vr
Eldur
I would expect it to stall around 50k. I'd say that's a bit low, especially when using AB. IIRC it's service ceiling is above that, somewhere in between 54k and 60k, depending on various sources. That literally means: Still climbing 500ft/min at MIL power. Generally, with more thrust (read: AB lit), more should be achieved possibly. The Tomcat doesn't do that ATM in DCS. Somewhere around 45k is the coffin corner, way too low. Though, record altitudes like 100kft should only be possible by zoom climbing. If it's possible to get there by climbing steadily, it's too much. Sandman1330
I can’t get above 65K. Oh she keeps climbing at a decent 1500fpm, and I still have 10,000lbs of gas... I just get bored :D It would take at least another 20mins to climb to 95K! draconus
how high will she go on military power only? Stalls around 47k ingame. @ NAVAIR doc you can read that for a clean aircraft @max A/B combat ceiling (500fpm) is 56,600ft. 45,100ft for intermediate thrust.
