Jedra
Hi, I bought the Mi8 in the recent sale and have just tried the campaign for the first time. In the first mission you are asked to land at a Farmstead next to an outpost. The farmstead seems to be in a very thick forest and it is impossible to land anywhere near it. I have looked at a few videos of people playing through the mission and in those versions (from a few years ago), the farmstead is not surrounded by thick forest. Can anyone confirm that this is indeed the case? Many thanks. Processor : Intel Core i7 7800X (3.8 - 4.2 GHz) . Motherboard : ASUS TUF X299 . Memory : 16Gb DDR4 1333 . Kang
I think I've played that one post 2.5 and it worked fine. Are you sure you are looking at the correct place? If I remember correctly the farmstead is on the slope down towards the river from the outpost.

If I remember correctly the farmstead is on the slope down towards the river from the outpost. Yeah, I’m pretty sure I found the right place. I can just see the farmstead in the trees with a couple of vehicles outside. I also found a YouTube playthrough which showed the location on the F10 map and I am looking at the same place. I am wondering if it had something to do with the tree coverage option in the main settings of DCS? Thanks for taking the time to respond though - appreciated. Jedra
Ok, that was the problem. I turned the trees down to the minimum of 30% in the DCS options and violla, the farmstead is now visible and I can land next to it! It’s strange that the missions can be affected like this. But, at least I can now proceed with the campaign! Processor : Intel Core i7 7800X (3.8 - 4.2 GHz) . Motherboard : ASUS TUF X299 . Memory : 16Gb DDR4 1333 . Kang
Since I never moved that slider (and in fact I had successfully forgotten about it until you mentioned it now!), I'm just as surprised as you are. I assumed that would only change the distance at which trees would become visible, not have any influence on the presence of trees in any given place. Very curious indeed. Apparently that changed: I just flew that mission again, and the outpost was covered by trees even with the slider at 30%. I was still able to land somehow, though. I tried find a spot in-between the trees, and landed there. It looked quite scary though (in VR) since you could tell by looking at the rotor tip lights I didn't have enough clearance Edited January 13, 2021 by Raven (Elysian Angel) Spoiler Ryzen 9 5900X | 64GB G.Skill TridentZ 3600 | Gigabyte RX6900XT | ASUS ROG Strix X570-E GAMING | Samsung 990Pro 2TB + 960Pro 1TB NMVe | HP Reverb G2 Pro Flight Trainer Puma | VIRPIL MT-50CM2+3 base / CM2 x2 grip with 200 mm S-curve extension + CM3 throttle + CP2/3 + FSSB R3L + VPC Rotor TCS Plus base with SharKa-50 grip mounted on Monstertech MFC-1 | TPR rudder pedals OpenXR | PD 1.0 | 100% render resolution | DCS "HIGH" preset

Raven (Elysian Angel)
No I don't have a screenshot: I don't have a keyboard nearby at my simpit. It was at WP3: the farmstead (2nd landing spot) just south of the helipads. Raven (Elysian Angel)
Well, that's not what it looked like to me: if I hadn't known where to look I'd have completely missed it. I only noticed a few white specks in-between the trees and tried as best as I could to avoid large trees while landing. After looking into the mission in the ME and start it out of there again i also saw only trees at that outpost, very strange. EDIT: Started DCS again and started the mission on 2 different ways 6 times again and everything was working correct again, very strange! Raven (Elysian Angel)
Still, it seemed to work despite the presence of those trees. I imagine most people would be discouraged though and not try to land there, so it is something that should be fixed.
