The Heat :(

You know nothing of heat.

A Phoenix, AZ resident.

Find it hard to believe nobody has referenced this yet in a topic of heat and Phoenix.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.

LOL. One of my favorites ever is Boomhauer: Yeah man, I tell ya what, man. That dang ol’ Internet, man. You just go on there and point and click. Talk about W-W-dot-W-com. An’ lotsa nekkid chicks on there, man. Click. Click. Click. Click. Click. It’s real easy, man.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that I lived in Yuma, Arizona too. That's where Yuma Proving Ground is for the US Army. They test for dirt and heat there....so you get the idea.

When has it not?
I guess your asking "when has the climate not changed?". Of course, the earth has gone through many changes in climate over the last 4.5 billion years. But what we're seeing now is very rapid relatively speaking.

Keep telling yourself that when it's 115 F.

That's when I would be calling the moving company and telling them to come get my stuff and take it somewhere else. ;)

Tucson resident and used to work in landscaping. New guys in the spring would start to complain about it being "Hot" when it hit the 90's. Had to tell them "Nope, its not hot YET, not till it hits 100".

When you work out in that heat, its the mental game, if you think its hot in the 90's, you will not be able to stand it when it is over 100...

This is why I chose a job in the computer industry. My first office was in a heavily air conditioned environment. I kept a sweater at work so I could keep warm.

Keep telling yourself that when it's 115 F.

Remember the three days in the early 90's, when we hit 120, 122, and then 120 again. And they shutdown Sky Harbor.

Woot, that was hot. ;)

I've been chatting with my workmates in Eindhoven, those poor b*st*rd's have been cooking...

They did not shut down Sky Harbor. The airlines had to ground stop because their POHs lacked documentation that they could fly in that heat. The documentation existed, but it was in a supplement that the airlines had chosen not to purchase. No Density Altitude Chart that covers 122° = No Fly (in FAA legal terms)

FWIW, it’s my understanding that the following week, they relocated the official PHX weather station to a spot in open shade over concrete instead of the direct sun over asphalt. Doubt we’ll ever see 122° again.

  • 3 weeks later...

Unbelievably , we're enjoying fall-like weather for a week about 400 mi north of the US gulf coast . I'm having a heck-of-a-time keeping the pool warm enough to swim in-and that with a solar heater installation-in July !
