MB-339A/PAN by Frecce Tricolori Virtuali (ONLY COMPATIBLE with DCS World 2.5.6)

I am working on a skin for the Virtual Snowbirds and nearing completion. However, I've run in to a problem. Many of the dds diffuse files are broken in the install package and or the skins provided. I've managed to find copies in the various folders that work but I cannot get the

There may be others that I need but these are the ones I've identified. I'm an experienced skinner and have not run into this problem with DDS files before. They appear to work in game. Using the nvidia plugin. I have created skins for almost every aircraft (AI and flyable) and never had this problem before.

Thanks for any help!

They aren't broken, simply they are compressed in a format that the old Nvidia Plugin can't handle: BC-7.

You can read and work with them using this plugin for PS: https://software.intel.com/en-us/articles/intel-texture-works-plugin

Will give it a go. I have only recently (Jan) moved to Windows and started using he nvidia plugin instead of the inel. Hope this solves it.

Works. Of course. LOL I should have just used the Intel one. Funny how it hasn't been a problem and I've been working on the 18, 14, and the 16.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

We have used BC-7 to preserve quality and crispness (and have exactly the same disk footprint of DXT-5). I don't know why official modules still use a format surclassed like DXT-5 when the engine is able to handle a better one...:music_whistling:

BTW, really nice skin...ah ah Snowbirds… I know Canadians are dreaming of M-345 Snowbirds Team;)

There is a team using your aircraft now. Friends of a friend of mine.

Is there a way to put bort numbers on the tail? I'm not seeing it in any of the description files.

Thanks! I haven't flown this yet but it's exactly what we need. An actual trainer.

We don't used bort, but the main texture have decal layer enabled.

Make a 4K trasparent tga (you can compress RLE to save a lot of disk space) and put this line in description.lua

{"main", DECAL,"*name_of_your_decal*", false},

Thank you very much for the help. She's all but done now. Just have to complete the decals for SB 3 -9 later and then I'll put it up.

Thank you both for the encouragement.

The skin is up in the user file section. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3308365/

I was also asked to make a skin for the Golden Centennaires so that is in progress now.

So am I the only one with a floating wing pylon in 2.6?

Like one is attached, the other is ~20 feet above the plane? All good pre-patch

If you're speaking of wingtips and you are using our latest 2.0.1 this behaviour should not occur, since the tip models are inside the same edm of the aicraft governed by visibility argument: in one word they are visible in the right place, or they are not visible at all

Put a screenshot here

Thanks for the info, It's odd because I absolutely get no other crashes other than when I try to use the MB-339 module. It seems to work the first time and then when I go to load up a subsequent mission it will crash. I will reload the GPU drivers clean and if it continues then I will just avoid using the 339 until later versions

The main texture of the 339, along its normal map and roughmet, are 8K in resolution: this maybe a reason why it could stress a bit your gpu. Moreover this can be worst in multiplayer environment, since still we don't implemented LODs for the model.

I also have a lot of crashes in open beta, but it's another history because they aren't related to d3d11.dll.

Even if you have a powerful RTX2080ti, I would suggest to lowering graphics settings to see if crash point is reached.
