Whodat
Hi everyone. When I switch to large FOV, apparent resolution - i.e. clarity - appears to fall e.g. I can't read the DDIs in the hornet anymore - there seems to be some aliasing going on as wording on the loading screen seems to swim and apparent resolution seems to drop. I have PD set to 1.4, and pimax and steam SS set to 1. As soon as I switch back to normal it is fine. Any ideas? I think my rig can just about push large so keen to solve it. gianlu320
Do you have parallel reprojection on? It might be that your problem. Parallel reprojection works correctly only with the small and normal FOV
Highwayman-Ed
I certainly don’t have the issue on Normal FOV, everything is pretty clear with the exception of the MPCD in the centre when the color map is displayed, but my settings are vastly different... Over the past few months that I’ve had my Pimax though, I’ve come to realise that the extra 10 degrees at the very edge of my field of view on the Large setting is simply not worth the performance hit that comes with it, and I barely notice it any more. That said, here are my settings and I’ll try it out tomorrow on Large and get back to you. Steam VR; Video Resolution = 50% PiTool (.132) Hidden Area Mask = OFF Render Quality = 1.25 Smart Smoothing = OFF FFR = ON & Conservative Parallel Projections = OFF FOV = Normal Refresh rate = 64Hz DCS MSAA = 2X Anisotropic filtering = 16X Pixel Density = 1 I do not run Oculus or Steam VR when flying DCS and launch it from within PiTool (Manually imported). I do get a few activation timeout errors when I start DCS, but it runs fine once I've cancelled out of these. The only word of caution when launching this way is VR centring does NOT work vertically for some reason, but this is true of any title launched from the PiTool...? Highwayman-Ed
Tested, and other than a slight, but noticeable, decrease in performance with the frame rate, I was able to read everything the same as with the normal field of view.
