Well based on community benchmarking and my own:

attachment.php?attachmentid=216103&stc=1&d=1566665433

Conclusion:

Either CPU should be indistinguishable for DCS as GPU matters more. Just make sure you got 6 core 12 threads or better. Invest the rest on the biggest GPU you can afford and your golden.

Also get 32Gb of RAM. More important than CPU choice.

Now 9900K but only slightly ahead of the 3900X. Once DCS is running on Vulkan and not DirectX the 3900X. When do you ask?

2 weeks what else?

Thank you...i have to plan, i will buy new PC behind the 2 months.

I will play only DCS simulator, so i buy new PC only for DCS.

I have plan buy, this components:

ASUS TUF Z390-PRO GAMING

Intel Core i9-9900K

NOCTUA NH-D15

G.SKILL 32GB KIT DDR4 3000 MHz CL16 Gaming series Aegis

ASUS ROG STRIX GAMING GeForce RTX 2070 A8G

WD Black 1 TB

Corsair Force Series MP510 480 GB

Fractal Design Define C TG

Corsair RM750x

I am considering AMD choice. I have a budget of around $ 2,000. Now i have PC what is in my signature...between old and new PC will be a considerable difference (in FPS)??? Now i have 40 FPS (high, but no highest settings), when is on the map more objects, and effects.

Sorry for my english...

I'm building a new system for DCS only before the years end, too. I'm building a 3800X system despite 9900K being like 3-5% faster in single core, go AMD.

Hmm, you are ED/TFC developer? This new system (?Engine?) for DCS will be official, or it is mode? I dont use modes....

You have a good system now RussianKnights:thumbup:

Same chip 7700K I upgrade from the 1070 to 1080ti and can max it out with the 7700K for DCS.

Could max out the 2080ti too.

Looking to upgrade a little further down the line when DCS can really utilize more cores and it will make a real difference. The only thing I could do is buy the 2080ti to get 30% more performance. Not worth it, going to wait for Vulkan etc.

1070 to 2070 is only 30% increase

1070 to 1080ti is around a 60% increase.

This is where I would put the money, or a least get the 2080 for that system build to get the 60% more performance.

What I'm saying is you can have 60% more performance now, just by adding a 1080ti or 2080 with that 7700K. Bump it to 4.8ghz easy, 5ghz with a little massaging.

With the 1080ti and 7700K @ 4.8ghz. I can hold 60fps with max settings (MSAA x 2) on the largest server online. I also Upgraded my ram to 32 GB.

If you want to upgrade only for DCS you will get in exchange for a more modern cpu minimum profit.

Your 7700K still has a huge reserve for the operation of the DCS just needs a spur to better performance.

I don't think it's worth it to replace the mobo and cpu. The 7700k is too good for that. Up the ram to 32GB and get a 2080 or 2080ti. Going this route should leave some money in your pocket.

The one with Ryzen 2nd gen is a bit over a year iirc and the part down low with the Ryzen 3rd gen 3900x is from last week.

Pilotasso made those, maybe he can be more precise

Hi Guys,

thank you so much for answers. I look any videos on youtube about performense test between i9 9900K and i7 7700K and RTX 2070 and GTX 1070 and result is:

- RTX 2070 is on 36,01% faster than GTX 1070

- i9 9900K have on (in avarage) 15FPS more than i7 7700K (at the same HW configuration)

- Interesting is, that even RAM have very diference on FPS.

So i will go to this configuration:

ASUS TUF Z390-PRO GAMING

Intel Core i9-9900K

NOCTUA NH-D15

HyperX 32 GB Kit DDR4 3200 MHz CL16 XMP RGB Predator

ASUS DUAL GeForce RTX2070S O8G EVO

WD Black 1 TB

WD Black SN750 NVMe SSD 500 GB

Fractal Design Define C TG

EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G+

If i have now minimal FPS in DCS 22FPS (on Hight settings detail, more object on map, i7 7700K, 16GB DDR4 2133, GTX 1070), so I expect, that on new configuration i will have minimal FPS +36,01% (GPU) + 15 FPS (CPU) + ??? FPS (RAM), so my minimal FPS will be 22*0,36+22 = 30 (GPU) + 15 (CPU) = FPS = 45???? I have right?

Thank you guys, and sorry for my english...

Well, one important parameter would be the resolution you're playing at?

But, in general, the gain in FPS from 9900K CPU is probably mostly from to the higher boost clocks. Just overclock your CPU if really necessary and direct the saved money towards the 2080Ti.

i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.

All those Z170-390 boards are UEFI based, no worries.

The TUF is at the very low end of what Asus does these days.

I have built a few TUF back in the days when they really were different, solid and better components, unfortunately, this has changed according to many reviews I have seen.

I would not build a rig based on TUF anymore.

To answer your question...I would also not pick the E-Gaming. I run it as Z370 and HATE it. The memory topology sucks BIG time.

I'd look at Gigabyte or Asrock, maybe MSI, in that price range.

Indeed, I would rather cut down the CPU, even go AMD if you ask me, but go for a BIGGER GPU.

Get at least a 2080 or 1080ti imho.

Tbh, I'd go with Gigabyte Aorus Master X570 ( or the bigger one IF you need those extra's, VRM is 99% same ) and a Ryzen 3700x, or 3600 or any other Ryzen 3rd gen, depending on your wallet.

Remember, all those CPU's will easily outrun a 2070, so best is to keep the CPU a notch lower in price but therefor get the better GPU. A AMD-5700 or 5700XT is a real competitor. Unless you got Dollars for a 2080ti, I'd grab the 5700(XT).

My new rig would read AMD top to bottom with DDR4-3600 CL16-16-16-38 and maybe get that tuned to 14 or 15...and call it a day.

* I had such bad luck with Asus boards last couple years with RAM and all sorts of trouble, incl. Poseidon cards from 800-1000€ that I am not buying Asus in the near-mid future but tend to look at Gigabyte as my most probable next vendor. But that is just me.

Just my 2 cents

That's why I'm holding onto my setup for another year or so.... Same with the GPU....

Wait till all this different hardware matures, including DCS.

The last of the 7th gen with a well matured Asus board, that hasn't miss a beat (touch wood) after setting it all up. I don't think these new cpu chips would make a real big difference with DCS then the 7700 - 4 core, running the same GPU.

I also record, multiplayer and watch video's on YouTube when flying no probs. Max settings with fps locked at 60 and hold 60 with large missions etc.

I agree with this. Go for the best GPU you can afford. I'm going to upgrade to 2080S in few months.
