Viper Manual Error reporting

AVIONICS POWER DL switch is mentioned few times in the manual.

The player is requested several times to move it to the DL (ON) position.

However. page 151 clearly states:

The DL switch next to the knob is not applicable to this block of the F-16C

So please remove all instructions to use it at all.

As a general rule throughtout the manul, each acronym should be explained in its first instance.

I.e. the acronym "CCIP" appears first in page 39 but explained only in page 219 as

• CCIP – Continuously Computed Impact Point
.

It means the user needs to read more than 80% of the manaul just to understand what he read after 15%...

Sometimes the manual clearly states some options are not implemented yet.

But in other cases its missing, so it is confusing.

I.e. after a successful FLCS BIT test, the manual instructs me to check for BIT PASS in the FLCS MFD page (page 99).

However, MFD FLCS and TEST pages shows a placeholder.

It would be nice if the manual will include notes for everything that is still not implemented, WIP or a placeholder.

Completely wrong!

"The ALT FLAPS switch allows manual trailing edge flap engagement only in case the LG handle cannot be lowered. Above a certain airspeed, TEF will rise regardless of this switch position".

But it switches the FLCS to Landing gains. And there are other reasons to lower your flaps without lowering the landing gear. so not only when the handle does not lower.

"when above".

Above what???

AGL?

MSL?

Obviously I know what the switch really does because I read it on -34.

But the DCS manual should assume no such thing and give concise info about every control the player(pilot) may interact with.

When set to automatic, radar altitude is displayed when above ground altitude is below 1,500 feet

and barometric altitude when above (so above 1500feet AGL)

JDAM's don't exist in the manual.

They do, look again, page 243 of the manual everything explained.

Chuck's guide is not updated if you are looking at that one.

I stand corrected: JDAM's don't exist in the GERMAN manual. Picked that one by accident. They do exist in the english one, the translation is just not there yet (WIP).

Thanks!

Page 36:

In NORM, the AL pointer indicates remaining fuel in the aft left reservoir and the A-1 fuselage tank, and the FR pointer indicates the sum fuel in the forward right reservoir tank and the F-1 and F-2 fuselage tanks.

Might want to add this note:

The FUEL QTY SEL knob must be in NORM for operation of the automatic forward fuel transfer system, trapped fuel warning, and for the BINGO fuel warning computation to be based on fuselage fuel.

Tested this in DCS and it is implemented correctly apparently.

CBU-87 CEM
The CBU-97 Combined Effects Munitions (CEM) is an unguided cluster bomb. It was first developed in 1986. Each bomb contains an SUU-65/B canister and 202 submunitions. The submunitions have both fragmentation and incendiary effects and are effective against both vehicles and personnel.

Should say "The CBU-87 Combined Combined Effects Munitions"

AGM-154A. The baseline AGM-154 variant consists of 145 BLU-97/B combined effects submunitions, with both armor-piercing and incendiary effects. These submunitions are identical to the ones used in the CBU-97. The AGM-154A cannot be re-targeted after launch.

Should say "These submunitions are identical to the ones used in the CBU-87."

In the Simultaneous Employment Against Multiple Targets section, the following

TMS Left interrogates targets. To cycle between targets in DTT/TWS, it's TMS right. Same issue occurs throughout that section.

Also there's a blank step at the endimage.png

The Avionics Power board is on the right, instead of the left as indicated in this diagram

Latest Changes (p.9) does not include any changes after 11 July 2021. Significant changes to manual and F16 capabilities have been integrated (Ground Radar for example) and is not documented here. Please make this either a Latest Changes which accurately reflects major update history, or a document version index and provide context to what has changed between doc revs.

In typical ED fashion the manual has once again not been updated to include the latest changes, pretty poor track record this. New changes (especially significant ones like addition of HTS, Markpoints, etc.) should be in the manual once it's released to the sim, now we're once again left to figure out half the stuff on our own (like how to input MGRS and make sure it saves)
