imacken
About halfway through the Cold Start Training Mission, white noise appears on the audio, and makes Wags' instructions almost impossible to hear. Happens every time just after 'engine to idle' section with the attached graphic. imacken
Guys, I know how to get rid of the noise, but I'm pointing this out, as it should not be happening. Remember, this is a training mission, and could be someone's first step into a DCS cockpit. bell_rj
I had the same. It kicked in halfway through the first (I think) training mission. I understand the workaround but I doubt it should be happening. Settings: In-Cockpit sound volume - 100% (same as other sliders) Hear like in helmet - unticked PC specs:
sze5003
It's the UHF radio volume. I'm using VR so I had some issues reading all the labels on the left console but to the left of the ils tone volume is a knob for the UHF volume. Spin that to the left and the white noise goes aways. It's like it was cranked up to the highest and left on a bad frequency. I agree it should not be happening. Don't think it has to do with that though. The white noise just kicks in unexpectedly. Ok, sorry, From the title I tought you were needing help rather than making a bug report :( No problem. dmatt76
Hi what sound settings are you using for in cockpit? I will ask about the static noise thanks It is just the same problem as here https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=250915 Squelch noise is starting as soon as the engine hits 60rpm and it happens always when we do the cold start. Sound settings have nothing to do with it, it is just the Viper issue. I can make a video of that if that helps.

Mezelf
Don't turn the volume down, because you'll also lose the audio from the auditory warnings. Just set the COMM 1 and COMM 2 mode knobs to SQL (squelch). I'm pretty sure this isn't even a bug. The official F16C/D checklist states that it should be set to SQL during the cockpit interior check, before the start-up. I guess what ED could do is either set it on SQL by default, or include it in the start-up checklist.
Etirion
The radios simply arent set to squelch by default, I just turn the dials once I put the throttle to idle and wait for the engine to spool up.
imacken
The radios simply arent set to squelch by default, I just turn the dials once I put the throttle to idle and wait for the engine to spool up. Yep, exactly that. Someone said they shoiuld already be set to squelch as part of the pre-cockpit entry procedure. So, it needs tweaking one way or the other.
