CueBall909
I bought the Bodney campaign over a year ago, when I bought the P-51 and the Channel and Normandy maps. My system wasn't good enough to play in VR, so I gave up on DCS for a while. Recently upgraded and now running a 5600X, 12GB RTX 3080, 32GB RAM. My system is pretty damn fast, and I can play IL-2 at 80fps easily. The first two missions of Bodney were playable (though frame rates are much lower than IL-2), but mission 3... my god. Just as quoted above, when the bombers drop their bombs it becomes an absolute slideshow of single digit FPS. Completely unplayable until the bombs impact, and then it goes back to "normal". I appreciate the work that's gone into these campaigns, the historical accuracy, the beauty, but the underlying sim is just unacceptable in regards to performance. I can only imagine that every single bomb has ten million polygons and that the airflow around them is being fully modeled with 4K textures and ray tracing. ryanimates
Hi, really loving the campaign, but unfortunately am here to add that these issues exist for me too. For instance in Mission 4, I start at a stable 72fps, drop to a stable 36fps when the bombers appear (and dip into the 20s when I am closely behind them - wake turbulence is off), and then when they release bombs I plummet to an unplayable 2 - 5 fps for about a minute. Unfortunately, I am out of options and will need to try the optional reduction in units for the next mission. Wish I had an option for the same amount of bombers, but far fewer bombs Settings are all medium to low, no AA or anything fancy. Tried a total rock-bottom settings playthrough and it still occurred. Specs are 3950x, 64gb RAM, 2x2080 supers, M.2 SSD, Quest 2 (with aggressive vrperfkit, oculus tray tool settings)

It’s probably better to post this in the general game performance bugs section because only I will see it here. @[ED]Obi, did anything change that may be the suspect? Baldi23
hello... really enjoying all these WWII campaigns, but just to add am also getting crippling performance when the B17s drop their bombs on a pretty good system, 9900k, 32 Gb, 3080 12Gb Is my first play through of BNBOB (got it long ago) so I wonder is this a new bug/problem or has it always been like this with bombers? Thanks for all the great campaigns!!
Reflected
Hey, thanks for the report. Unfortunately it’s been like that forever in DCS. That’s why I only make 1/4th of the bombers actually drop. But fps goes back to normal after all the explosions so it’s only for a minute max. 1 Facebook Instagram YouTube Discord
trevoC
It is an epic shot though.... one of the more memorable moments I've had in DCS... The slideshow also allows you to take nice pictures with your phone for a moment. Hoping Vulkan multi-threading will fix this. If it does, its the first mission I will re-visit. 1 AMD 7900x3D | Asus ROG Crosshair X670E Hero | 64GB DC DDR5 6400 Ram | MSI Suprim RTX 4090 Liquid X | 2 x Kingston Fury 4TB Gen4 NVME | Corsair HX1500i PSU | NZXT H7 Flow | Liquid Cooled CPU & GPU | HP Reverb G2 | LG 48" 4K OLED | Winwing HOTAS
sigfan86
I can happily report that the new MT version of DCS greatly helps this campaign in vr. Flying mission 3 where you need to rendezvous with the B17 bomber group. Previous versions, the game would become a slideshow when the formation drops their bombs. Tried the same mission yesterday and zero studders during the same section! Multi threading has really improved large missions with lots of assets loaded. 3 1 System: Ryzen 5900x, G.Skill 3600 32GB, MSI 4090 suprim liquid X, samsung odyssey+ headset
