Majesco
I found a serious problem with ModMan 6.0.0.8 Final & hope it's been fixed in the new version 6.1.0.1: With ModMan 6.00.8 if you guys have at least 2 flyable aircraft mods which have some similar files (server.lua, xx-OBLOMOK-WING-L/R.cmd, xx-collision.lom...). When you install 1 of them, you may find some files couldn't be installed and then, when you uninstall that mod, those files will be automatically deleted from the game folder (Bazar/ Shapes). I think it's a serious bug of ModMan 6 which i've never met in the older version 5.00.12 Skypat, do you have any idea about this prob ? ps: Here's the picture i took after uninstalling my F/A-18C flyable mod, server.lua was deleted by Modman 6.00.8, maybe :(

Skypat
Hello strange, because the uninstall process occurs ONLY if backup file exists (otherwise, it's aborting and let file in folder) if you have vista OS, you must no install modman or fc in folders managed by UAC what is your windows OS ? if it's VISTA, where did you installed ModMan and FC ? please try with 6.1.0.2 and tell me should work fine. best regards Skypat

nesher
If the old one worked perfectly why to replace it if I have still XP... I'll remain with the old version of Modman.:smartass:
Skypat
6.x.x.x version fixes a huge list of thing and add a huge list of enhancement about mod detection engine too. take a look at the readme ;) BTW 5.x.x.x version don't support .cfg changes and have a .cdds insertion engine bugged Best regards Skypat
FA_Crazy-Canuck
Question. Can you install 6.0 over 5.0 and not have to reinstall all of the mods? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Majesco
fisrt you can uninstall Modman 5.00.12, it won't delete Addon_fc folder then you install Modman 6 to C: (not Program Files or Windows folders due to Vista UAC) & move all addons/ mods from Modman 5's addon_fc to the new similar folder in Modman
TekaTeka
Question. Can you install 6.0 over 5.0 and not have to reinstall all of the mods? No. ModMan6 uses different file management system from ModMan5. So, -Uninstall all mods in ModMan5 -Uninstall ModMan5 -Install ModMan6 -Move mods files to ModMan6 addons folder -Reinstall mods TekaTeka from Japan [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Visit my site Beyond Visual Range. Skypat
thx Teka ;) btw the install process from older version than 6.x is described at the beginning of the install process @Majesco did you find time to test your f/a18 addon with 6.1.0.2 ? i looked seriously several hours at my code yesterday, it's impossible that modman delete any file, this part of 'backup' managing code is as securized as the world bank :D and has not changed from 4.0 version ie: if i dont' find the backup file, i don't uninstall the target file if i find the backup file, i do a filecopy from backup file to target file. anyway tell me ;) if you reproduce another time the 'bug', please send me the 2 addons URL best regards Skypat

I don't try to make any flyable mod with the current Modman which i'm using - v6.1.0.1 yet, tomorrow morning i'll try to do it. But what i said above was the truth that i've never met in the older version 5.00.12. Here's what i did with Modman 6.0.0.8: I tried to make a new flyable F-4 Phantom mod for the Su-33, so i copied some files in Bazar/ World/ Shapes folder to another area: _ f-4-collision.lom _ F4-BAK-C.cmd _ F4-BAK-L.cmd _ F4-FON-P.cmd _ F4-FON-Z.cmd _ F4-PILON.cmd _ F-4E.cmd _ F-4E-OBLOMOK-WING-L _ F-4E-OBLOMOK-WING-R _ changed some things in Meinit.xml for suitable _ added my tweaked Server.lua then renamed them to similar Su-33's files => Used Addon maker to made the mod => Installed it to the game. The result was i flew the Su-33 in the shape of F-4E, i thought everything was ok. BUT....when seeing the mod in Modman 6's addon list again i found some files weren't installed (they were in red color, of course). They were: _ SU-33-OBLOMOK-WING-L (renamed) _ SU-33-OBLOMOK-WING-R _ Server.lua _ .... (sorry i didn't remember :D ) I'm sure i found 4 files weren't installed, i tried to re-install them many times in both 2 ways: Uninstall & re-install the mod AND file-by-file mode but nothing changed. Then i uninstalled the flyable F-4 mod & tried the Su-33 quick mission, i lost the shape of Su-33 (lost SU-33.cmd) & F1 view mode looked like the picture i posted at page 1. I doubted some files were deleted & searched files which weren't installed but couldn't find them. Yeah, i'm sure that they were deleted (automatically, by what ??) FA_Crazy-Canuck
Thanks Teka-Teka for the help. I bit the bullet and actually read the information, go figure. So I started from scratch installing 6.0.2 etc. Thanks again, by the way I enjoy your work. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
