[CAN NOT REPRODUCE]anyone else having problems getting LSS to detect a laser?

???

i tell a JTAC to go "laser on"

he comes back saying "lasing"

but the LSS never finds it - i just give up and select WPN DSG on the HSI and bomb on that point - the bomb finds the laser and its "good enough" but i kinda want to see the LSS work - i want to see the pod do its thing

Works fine for me - takes a couple of sweeps, but finds it and locks onto it. Are you pointing the Tpod roughly at the target area before you start the LSS scan? You have to do this manually or it won't be looking in the right area to pick up the lasing.

I dropped over 20 JDAMs today, but used LSS to detect JTACs designation on nearly every one of them. Also dropped 12 GBU12s via JTAC donor laser as well... Didn't have any issue detecting the laser (while inside of the detectable range).

Still having troubles with LSS? Matching laser code? No conflicting codes? Valid code?

Cheers,

Don

here is my dropbox link to trk file and miz file that i flew

and here is a youtube of me flying that mission - i took two passes, never got the LSS to find the laser the JTAC was firing

(give it time to process - looks pretty rough right after i uploaded it... AND for some reason, the cursor (yellow cross) doesn't appear in my recording - using nvidias integral recorder)

Just tried the mission, no problems here, make sure when searching you are within 12nm

make sure the tgp is pointing in the direction of the target area also.

let me know how you get on.

okay.. i see what you're doing - you have to sort of "pre-aim" the pod in order to get the laser spot tracker to "catch" the illumination

that kinda defeats the purpose though doesn't it?

you don't know where the target area is, but in order for the LSS to find the laser reflection, you have to point it in "sorta" the right direction

that's kinda catch-22, right?

i don't remember it being this difficult - i seem to remember (emphasis on "seem") the LSS would find the laser much easier

Q - has the field of view of the TPOD been reduced??

Q2 - if it has been reduced, can we have it back?

I am not aware of any change to the TPOD FOV.

But yes you have to point your TPOD in the general direction, it will increase your chances of finding the laser.
