Just so I understand, what's the big deal?

Apologies, but I have no idea. Just trying to understand.

There is supposedly Reshade (post processing effects) now available directly via the GF Experience software in this version, however some people are reporting that DCS World is not supported which is quite disappointing - especially for VR users who could benefit from effects such as SMAA.

Here is a rundown from nVidia themselves

it's interesting. I made a quick image sharpening test and i didin't see a difference but lower fps.

btw what is the "film grain" in that menu?

edit: reshade is not supported by dcs i guess

Thanks. That looks potentially very interesting, certainly so as we clearly have some fellow forum members capable of generating filters. Awesome.

Does it Make a Difference

I have enabled it but I have no clue if it really changes anything. Perhaps ED will comment soon as to its effect and optimal setting if it does work with DCS.

I hope ED will support these two features (reshade and sharphening)

I have tried sharpening - if I run DCS in lower resolution than native for my monitor, it makes it sharper - depending on settings - than the image without this option turned on.

Still not sure what 'ignore film grain' option does.

I guess it is similar to 'Masking' sharpening setting in Lightroom software - basically it ignores very fine detail and sharpens more pronounced edges only.....but that's just my guess.

So many modules, so little time...

I also wonder if we will be able to use that functions in DCS soon ?

From the video it doesn't look like the nVidia Reshade lets you tweak each settings variables. Reshade works in DCS now just fine, so I don't see the need for using nVidia's driver to do it yet.

I made a jsgme/ovgme mod to enable/disable Reshade so I don't lose it during updates. And I have it point to a common folder for the shaders and profiles so I can use them in both Stable and OBeta.

Yes. It doesn´t work. Only sharps the mirror picture in the monitor, not the image thorought VR HMD.

Lets hope ED make this in a option like other IIWW sim, the sharpening option improves a lot the clarity in VR. In that sim with same supersampling level, the clarity looking at instrumenst or distant planes is incredible.

This is a very interesting piece of news. It would be great if this feature can be taken advantage of in dcs.

A new Image Sharpening works in DCS all right, just not the values overdo because of the jagges.

The result on the values of.

Sharpen: 0.25

Ignore film grain: 0.50
