Welcome to the lockon forums, probably one of the most friendly communities out there definitely. So you wont have any trouble finding some help. :)

Why don't you download Hyperlobby and get flying on there, meet some new people, get some pointers and anything else you need to know?

there are heaps of great tutorials and stuff over at Flanker Training:

if you're like me and you dont have an infinite amount of downloads then you might get a taste of traffic shaping when you go to flankertrainin as the videos are pretty huge.

(I wonder if someone could render these out as wmv and upload them to youtube)

Flankertraining should get you most of the basics :)

Here is where you can get Hyperlobby

http://hyperfighter.sk/

Is a sort of "All seeing eye" or other program alike but, is more specialised for flight sims. After you create a user and choose a password (by typing them in the login area) you can join one of the "rooms"... try "Lock On Modern Aircombat". First thing it will ask you to confirm your password in chat and to provide an email for password retrieval (in case you forget it). After that you are good to go.

Make shure you're game is patched to the server version (usualy 1.12a or b) and join in. Most of the servers provides a Teamspeak adress also so you can get help a bit faster.

I will add a small other thing... in oposition with games like BF2 or CS (I play BF2 also) that are considered to be "arcade" in flight sims the "kills" are secondary objectives. If you think at them like this you will get less frustration while you are learning.

There is a moto somewhere that says: "Your life, your plane, your mission." ...and don't forget the buddies in the process we can add :D .

Also if you realy get in to this I recommend this book: In Pursuit ...although is adressed to prop fighter pilots has a lot to learn a novice in Jetfighter piloting as well.

Good Luck... I hope you stay :) .

We just started the 70th blue lions. (see my sig) We are recruiting pilots of all skill levels. (even complete noobs)

Have fun. Online play is the best. You learn next to nothing against the enemy AI.
