gulredrel
Hello, I'm running stable version DCS/2.5.5.39384. I have some additional skins installed download from the user file section. All of them show a shadow, or something like this, where the markings are. See screenshots attached. Can I solve this issue or do the addon skins have to be reworked? Thanks Jens
Art-J
Any skin made before July 2019 has to be reworked. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.

Volator
It's sad, so many great skins are pretty much useless now, and I doubt that most if any of them will be overhauled. 1./JG71 "Richthofen" - Seven Eleven
gulredrel
Yeah, really sad. So we need to keep the head inside the cockpit and use default skins.
joey45
It's probably the roughmet/Spec files that need editing. The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. Rudel_chw
Any skin made before July 2019 has to be reworked. I wouldn't be so blunt .. just checked some old A-10 Skins and they still work fine, perhaps this is a problem only with some airplanes? joey45
What liveries are these..? It might be a easy fix as they might default back to the default roughtmet file in the texture zip file. Akatsuki
They need custom Roughmet textures or they will show the default one like in the OP screenshots. The same goes for the Sabre.
Art-J
I wouldn't be so blunt .. just checked some old A-10 Skins and they still work fine, perhaps this is a problem only with some airplanes? Nothing blunt about it. It's a MiG thread with a question specifically about MiG textures - quite obvious which skins I was reffering to. In either case, as Akatsuki noted, after switch from specmap to a new roughmet layer in default MiG textures, which happened last year, all custom ones have to be adjusted accordingly as well. Same goes for F-86 indeed, but there are more updated custom skins for that one available already. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10. joey45
It's an easy fix.......... sort of. IF ED puts the default Roughmet file in the textures folder/file it would be so much easier.. zaelu
There is an community roughmet patch that still doesn't fix the problem and also some skins that are made few days ago that look OK on screenshots from author but present the bug once installed in the game. It looks to be a Spec file problem not roughmet. It's either the "MiG-15_SPEC" file which I can't find it anywhere inside the game for some reason or "empty" which is less likely since is usually a generic one pixel texture but is set as decal and has the parameter "true" so is taken from game folder not actual new livery. ==Wiggy==
Mine only present a faint edge outline only, on purpose, on the metallic part in order show a weathering effect. The camo does not have this. Cheers, Rick CSEL\CMEL\IFR Certified Airplane Nut
Solution zaelu Posted April 18, 2020 Solution Share Posted April 18, 2020 (edited) Yeah. Yours works. I managed to find what to do. I added reference to rough_met texture (correct ones after 100 tries :) ) and they start working. LE For others that might have same problem and want a solution... you have to add this: {"MiG-15_MAIN", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_N", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_N_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_f3", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_f3_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_f3", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_f3_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_N_f3", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_N_f3_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",true}; At the end of the lines of textures from description.lua of skin you are trying to fix. just before the name and countries and inside the {} from the list of textures. ACTUALLY after some more testing I couldn't manage to make it work with the above code that sends the game to load the texture already inside an archive that comes with the module so I managed to make it work only after taking out that file from that archive and place it inside the folder of the skin I correct and add the code you can see bellow!! The address of the file is this: \DCS World\CoreMods\aircraft\MiG-15bis\Textures\MiG-15bis.zip Inside you find: MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet.dds If you want to use this one or one of your own roughmet texture then place it in the livery folder you are working on (and replace the MiG-15_bis_DIF_RoughMet with what is called yours) and add at the end false instead of true because the texture is not a default one already loaded. example with a texture placed inside the skin folder you are editing/correcting: {"MiG-15_MAIN", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_N", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_N_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_f3", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_f3_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_f3", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_f3_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_N_f3", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; {"MiG-15_MAIN_N_N_N_f3_R", 13 ,"MiG-15_DIF_RoughMet",false}; Edited April 19, 2020 by zaelu [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I5 4670k, 32GB, GTX 1070, Thrustmaster TFRP, G940 Throttle extremely modded with Bodnar 0836X and Bu0836A, Warthog Joystick with F-18 grip, Oculus Rift S - Almost all is made from gifts from friends, the most expensive parts at least
