Those recommendations can be a little misleading. Maybe BIGNEWY can be more specific....

What screen resolution are they for and what is the expected minimum FPS?

My system is listed in my signature and my monitor is 1440p...with the high graphics setting preset, I struggle with performance and FPS drops below 60 FPS at times.

My system exceeds what is recommended so ED may be basing it off of a 1080p monitor. However, my system exceeds the VR recommendations as well and if I struggle on the monitor, there is no way I could run VR with any sort of acceptable level of graphics and FPS.

The lesson here is that DCS requires a lot...get the absolute best system that you can afford.

Tell us what you got and we can predict your experience.

Foremost, DCS needs a FAST CPU, as fast as you can afford. Either a new Ryzen 3000 or an Intel somewhere north of 4.5GHz. Best would be either a 3700x Ryzen or better or a 5G Intel CPU 8th, 9th or soon 10th edition. A 9900k would be an Intel chip that fits but I would pick an AMD 3900X

if money allows.

GPU, that's easy...as high as you can afford. If a 2080ti fits your budget, get it. If you dont want to spend that much you have to start trading fps - resolution - level_of_detail. You have to make up your mind where in that triangle you wanna be. Not an easy thing tbh.

SSD, I say that's mandatory at the end of 2019

RAM, better 32 than 16 if you got all modules, incl. the heavy_on_system ones.

Gigabyte Aorus X570S Master - Ryzen 5900X - Gskill 64GB 3200/CL14@3600/CL14 - Asus 1080ti EK-waterblock - 4x Samsung 980Pro 1TB - 1x Samsung 870 Evo 1TB - 1x SanDisc 120GB SSD - Heatkiller IV - MoRa3-360LT@9x120mm Noctua F12 - Corsair AXi-1200 - TiR5-Pro - Warthog Hotas - Saitek Combat Pedals - Asus PG278Q 27" QHD Gsync 144Hz - Corsair K70 RGB Pro - Win11 Pro/Linux - Phanteks Evolv-X
