VR Performance only with F14

I have 64gb RAM but do get stutters sometimes. I don't play multiplayer.

From my experience playing with large pagefile won't help in this situation. Sure, setting a pagefile to a fixed size won't hurt, but the RAM is not the problem, the problem is that the GPU gets hammered by F-14 model and textures.

The only solution is to dial down pixel density and/or Steam supersampling setting, whichever you choose, to give GPU more headroom.

Hardware: VPForce Rhino, FSSB R3 Ultra, Virpil T-50CM, Hotas Warthog, Winwing F15EX, Slaw Rudder, GVL224 Trio Throttle, Thrustmaster MFDs, Saitek Trim wheel, Trackir 5, Quest Pro

Yes. Ofc, make sure you have enough disk space available, too. I have it on my C : drive where I keep always around 60GB of free space.

A 32GB paging file will always help in DCS, with numerous things, especially for large missions and Multiplayer, and should always be set. Whether you have VR issues or not, or whether it alleviates your VR problems or not. It's one of the most common standard tweaks to help your performance.

Not really. It comes into play if committed memory exceeds the amount of physical memory. In this case, if the pagefile is too small, Windows will start to increase it and shuffle things around, so it can stutter for a while. An if the upper pagefile limit is still too small, DCS or something else in the system will crash.

For a guy with 64 GB ram playing SP, a 32GB pagefile is simply overkill. I mean sure, it's a safe support answer, worst case scenario it will just waste some free space on SSD.

Trust me when I tell you from 20 years MP experience, numerous guys in our squads with 64GB of ram, it is the first thing you do. If you don't want to, don't, but it is the first thing we make sure folks have set, when they come asking for tweaks on how to improve their performance (online) - helps with large scale SP missions just as well. 🙂

If you'd observe memory usage, you will see that DCS in fact often does not even use 16GB, let alone 32 or 64GB, when you play large missions online, yet you will run out of memory... 64GB is anyway overkill, and still you might run into issues, because of your paging file. As you can see what has been experienced below. There are certain things in DCS which have been proven through usage ad nauseam, while they may not align with "how it actually should be", but trust me when I say, it helps.

However i did notice my Memory was above 80% constantly. DCS was using just short of 10GB. I have 32GB in my system, Task manager was showing I had 32 GB in my system too.

He wrote he doesn't play multiplayer, so it doesn't matter how many years of MP experience you have. I also did not write about DCS memory usage, or the "in use" value, but total committed memory. That's what's important in relation to pagefile - when committed memory exceeds physical memory available, pagefile starts being used.

Want to really see how much of pagefile is really being used, you can always do that with built in system tools https://support.tilaa.com/hc/en-us/articles/228651847-How-to-see-swap-pagefile-usage-in-Windows-

Does that matter if I would have this on C : drive or the same drive the DCS is on? My C is shrinking fast, especially with all those prime quality F-14 skins piling up in the saved games folder...🙄

If it is an SSD, or as Kula said, equally fast or fastest disk even, then no, it doesn't matter.
