ebabil
What is this part of the icp for? Are we going to get it eventually? And can you provide some real life (or other sims) pics or videos of the task this part? Harlikwin
Most of those functions are for legacy stuff related to FLIR projection on the hud and not used in the Block 50 we have from what I know. The Razbam harrier has similar functionality if you want to see what it looks like in game. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. ebabil
So is this an old tech stuff that was abandoned in later blocks right? Interesting, I would like to use it. razo+r
There's also the backup reticle depession setting there. You can enable it by a switch one below the radar altimeter switch on the right side at the front. But you cannot use the FLIR buttons since we don't have it in the F-16 and won't get it. some1
I think "optional" is more appropriate term. These controls become functional together with the wide angle HUD which can project FLIR image, and I think some countries ordered their Block 50s with such capability. Not USA though. Maybe nowadays it's less important though, with advancements in NVG technology. QuiGon
It says HUD FLIR/TFR controls, with TFR being the Terrain Following Radar, that is installed in some Vipers to give them all weather low level capability. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing! MadCat1381
Not sure, but I guess the Block 40 Vipers (Night Falcons) have a HUD that can use these controls.
Matchstick
Not sure, but I guess the Block 40 Vipers (Night Falcons) have a HUD that can use these controls. AIUI these ICP controls are a hangover from the earlier blocks (40 & 42 ?) which carried the (2 part) LANTIRN pods with NAVFLIR and TFR functionality rather than the Litening and Sniper pods carried on the Block
Eldur
This is for the AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN navigation pod. For those flying the Tomcat, there's just the AN/AAQ-14 LANTIRN targeting pod. F-15E and F-16s had both pods, the nav pod is for TFR and projection it's FLIR image to the HUD so you could fly at night without NVGs. I wish we had these though... You can fly the harrier like that, it has navflir. But it sucks compared to nods for low level flight. New hotness: I7 9700k 4.8ghz, 32gb ddr4, 2080ti, :joystick: TM Warthog. Notso
You can fly the harrier like that, it has navflir. But it sucks compared to nods for low level flight. True, but the Nav pod did have its uses when the Low Light vis or other factors made the NODs less effective. The NODs were far superior in most cases, but there were a few scenarios where the NAV/FLIR pod good to have.
