Mr. Big.Biggs
Starting to load software on my new pc. Was getting ready to Purchase the F14 when I noticed it said “not compatible with steam”. I have purchased the valve index, haven’t opened as yet as Im still getting things in order. Can I run the Valve index without downloading steam? If I want to fly the F14 and others in VR on my index, do I have to go purchase them again (assuming any I gave already purchased had the same restrictions?) Don’t want to waste any more cash if I have to go buy from the steam store instead of direct from ED. Let me know and thanks!! I9 (5Ghz turbo)2080ti 64Gb 3200 ram. 3 drives. A sata 2tb storage and 2 M.2 drives. 1 is 1tb, 1 is 500gb. Valve Index, Virpil t50 cm2 stick, t50 base and v3 throttle w mini stick. MFG crosswind pedals. Harlikwin
Don't panic! You are fine. 2 different things. If you are buying direct from ED, nothing is "steam" compatible. I.E. The steam version of DCS becuase the modules are sold differently mainly. But you still run Steam and Steam VR to run your headset. Which will work just fine with the ED version of the game. I run steam myself so someone else will have to tell you the specifics of doing it though. But at a guess you launch the game in VR mode and "it just works" or maybe you start it from the the steamVR startup room for the headset which detects VR compatible titles. Wicked.-
It will work fine. Did you get the OB version or Steam version? The Index will work with either. You need to download the Steam App and Steam VR and install both. Once done, if you have the Open Beta DCS, simply launch it and it will immediately go into your Index. If you have any other Index questions, jump on the Index hands on thread under Input/Output VR category.
