Extranajero Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I get the worst framerate of all the DCS modules I own with the F-16, are any other users having similar results ? It's still useable, but on the very low side of what I personally call useable. Specific issue - which I haven't posted as a bug report because I'm not sure if it's being reported already - in multiplayer once my INS is aligned and I switch to NAV the framerate goes through the floor. From 45-50 to low teens sort of numbers. I know there's a Datalink issue, but is this the same thing ? --------------------------------------------------------- PC specs:- Intel 386DX, 2mb memory, onboard graphics, 14" 640x480 monitor Modules owned:- Bachem Natter, Cessna 150, Project Pluto, Sopwith Snipe
Harker Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Sounds like it's the same bug, since once INS alignment is complete and you switch to NAV, datalink information starts displaying on the HSD. Try the same thing, but leaving the MIDS switch to OFF during startup. The vCVW-17 is looking for Hornet and Tomcat pilots and RIOs. Join the vCVW-17 Discord. IRememberJeep Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 If you switch off of the HSD page it will fix the frame rate issue until it is fixed. That is what I do anyway. I will quickly switch to it and back if looking for a bit of SA. But yes, it’s not just you. I believe everyone is getting low FPS with the HSD displaying SA.
CobaltUK Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Drops lower by 20fps for me on the ramp with 60 players. Down to Av 45. Causing me no issues I`m aware of though. Windows 7/10 64bit, Intel i7-4770K 3.9GHZ, 32 GB Ram, Gforce GTX 1080Ti, 11GB GDDR5 Valve Index. Force IPD 63 (for the F-16)
Wicked.- Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I haven't noticed any frame drops with my Index resulting from using L16 and HSD. I had this problem with the Hornet at one time but fortunately so far L16 hasn't been an issue in the Viper. Is it possible it's a HMD specific issue or is this happening on a monitor? IRememberJeep Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 I get it specifically from the HSD after MIDS is switched on and INS is switched to Nav. So basically when it starts displaying SA on that page. As soon as I switch to SMS or a different page the frames come back. If I switch back to HSD the frames drop again. I have no issues with the F-18 SA page or any other aircraft for that matter, so I figured it was a bug of some sort.
Extranajero Posted December 16, 2019 Author Posted December 16, 2019 Thanks everyone. I think I might park the F-16 up until it's a bit more developed. Don't get me wrong, it's got loads of potential and I'm sure it'll be great, but I'll come back to it in a few updates time. --------------------------------------------------------- PC specs:- Intel 386DX, 2mb memory, onboard graphics, 14" 640x480 monitor Modules owned:- Bachem Natter, Cessna 150, Project Pluto, Sopwith Snipe

Is the cv1 really that bad? Is it the oculus software? My system specs are better than yours, and I can barely sustain 45fps. I have almost -10 fps lost with f-16, I hope it will be fixed. fopr now it is in the hangar

These are 2D not vr fps as the OP was 2d or didn't say otherwise I haven't bothered checking losses in vr but it causes me no issues there either. Krippz Posted December 17, 2019 Posted December 17, 2019 The FPS issue is related to the HSD-Datalink. Cold jet great frames, after startup and the HSD-Datalink page is up, frames take a dive. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22

Oh I apologize. I guess I assumed you were talking about in VR, due to your signature showing you have a valve index. :) Intel i7 8700K @ 4.8Ghz, Asus RoG Maximus X Formula, 32GB G.Skill Trident Z 3200, EVGA Geforce 2080 Super, 1TB Samsung Evo 970 M.2, 500GB Samsung Pro 860 SSD. Extranajero Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 My F-16 didn't spend very long parked up waiting for more frames then :D The bug seems to be squashed and I could swear that there's a small but noticeable FPS increase too. Might be wishful thinking though... --------------------------------------------------------- PC specs:- Intel 386DX, 2mb memory, onboard graphics, 14" 640x480 monitor Modules owned:- Bachem Natter, Cessna 150, Project Pluto, Sopwith Snipe

Might be wishful thinking though... There maybe be some improvements. I sill think its user hardware and setup specific. I have had these conversations with people about performance here on the forums, Facebook, and Discord. A lot of them are having issues on older systems, they have not cleared their caches over several updates, or they have yet to tweak and optimize windows. Like the MFD readability debate. People have benched this jet because they can not read the MFD's, others have no problem. So who is at fault for that? ED or the end users setup and ability/willingness to improve their system? Oceandar Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 I have nice FPS in Viper after latest update. FPS drop with DL on is no longer an issue. Getting 50 - 60 fps avg, before like 40-45 Thanks ED. Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power. - Lao Tze
