Little surprised

Been looking on YouTube for vids of people flying the F-16 and there aren't very many. Not even the Grim Reapers are using it much.

 

At this point I'm hoping that's simply because it's not a complete-enough product yet. No Mavericks, HARMs, etc.

Yes, its boring without full set of weapons. They are adding things like Wing Flex instead of what we really need in the first place

It still seems to be EXTREMELY Early Access. A lot of things missing. For the systems/features that have been implemented, they are still bugged or incomplete. There really is little to nothing that is 100% fully functioning and/or correct at this stage of development...hence the reason for the lack of tutorials.

 

Hopefully the update tomorrow will greatly improve on all of this and finally bring the F-16 to a state that is more useable.

What I was searching was DCS F-16 - I wasn't really interested in "first impression" or tutorial vids (I've already watched most of them - lol) - I was hoping to see people using them in missions or online server play, etc.

Hah, go to most popular MP servers and F-16 and F-18 seems to be the most used modules.

 

It's even more populated than the F-14 from what I see when I check 104th, buddy spike or growling sidewinder.

I second what Metzger said, I see the F-16 being flown in most servers. The ones I frequent anyway. I also see them carrying a plethora of different munitions. CAP loadouts with AIM-9s & AIM-120s, AI loadouts with TPOD and LGBs, and even CAS loadouts with CBUs & Mk 82s.

 

I suppose you could make the argument that we don’t have Mavericks or JDAMs but at the end of the day I’d rather have the flight model correct and leave the development to the developers. I’ll start supporting these complaint posts this time next year if we don’t have additions.

As to the OP searching for vids, you may want to message/comment to the content creators and tell them you want to see more F-16 vids. They most likely will listen and I agree that I would like to see more F-16 vids. I’ve seen quite a few tutorials and also there are a few mission videos posted up with the F-16 including from Cap & The Grim Reapers.

 

Edit: I’d like to add that the Hornet didn’t get the TPOD until fairly recently. The F-16 launched with it. I think the Devs should be thanked for adding as many munitions as they did at launch because it was a whole lot more than I expected considering it’s Early Access.

Not sure why the quality, availability, or level of completeness is measured by the amount or videos available online.... did we sink that low?

 

Anyway, buy the module, learn it, and grow with it - that's what early access is for after all. Needless to say, the DCS F-16 is friggen awesome already.

I understand voicing one’s opinion and criticism but I don’t understand why it needs to be constant, especially against a module in EA that isn’t even 6 months old. I don’t know, I have my wish list of things that I would like to see implemented first in modules but at the end of the day the Devs are the ones who know what it looks like behind the scenes and what can be reasonably implemented when.

 

I don’t presume to know the full extent of the Dev’s job but I know it isn’t easy so I try and put myself in their shoes and look at each module for what it currently is and what it took to get it there. Looking at it that way I don’t see how anyone can be disappointed at the state of the 2-3 month old EA F-16C. Especially with what it launched with and the numerous updates we’ve gotten since release. I think, and clearly tons of others do as well, as it is right now it’s a great aircraft and a lot of fun to pilot. I’m not saying it doesn’t need improvement but it’s more than usable, fun and effective.

 

Some of my best “I wish I got that on video!” moments so far have been in the F-16. I taught those F-5s not to try and sneak up on people precision bombing.

I think you folks are mis-understanding what I'm saying.

I'm not bagging on ED for the current state of the F-16 - we all knew it was Early Access and what that means. I don't have a problem with the current state of the F-16 and am currently playing around with it in the mission builder, trying to figure out my control mappings and all that.

 

When I said a "not complete-enough product yet" I meant I was wondering if there weren't as many "in-action" vids out there because those content creators found what is currently available with the F-16 too limiting. That once ED brings more weapons systems and other things online with the module that we'll start seeing more creators using it in their vids.
