Avoiding Stupid domino effect in convoy attacks

In the missions we are flying, we sometimes have to escort convoy and clear the path ahead of them from, for example, IEDs.

Convoys are set "on the road" with "disperse under fire" disabled.

If the first vehicle of the convoy is blown up by an IED, the second behind will come close enough to be blown up by the explosion of the first vehicle. Then the third vehicle will come too close and be blown up by the explosion of the second vehicle....until you reach the last vehicle. So unless someone is jumping into a game commander or tactical commander position and manually steer away the vehicles from the ones burning, a single lost vehicle in a convoy will trigger a domino effect that will kill the entire convoy without any way through AI to avoid it.

Any way you guys can think off to avoid this ridiculous behavior?

maybe you could use some triggers in conjunction with some advanced waypoint actions? A potential solution might be something like:

trigger for 'Once - Unit damaged - target truck - Flag on (1)'

advanced waypoint command 'hold' with start condition of flag 1

after X seconds (I'd suggest 20 to give the first truck enough time to burn out but with practice you could shorten it to the perfect time to sync with truck destruction) turn the waypiont command off using 'stop condition - 20 seconds'.

Something like that might work, yes the convoy will stop whilst the lead truck is on fire and until it detonates but its the only workaround that immediately came to mind.
