RED Posted January 15, 2020 Share Posted January 15, 2020 There are some issues with the tanker aircraft but this issue is probably one of the most noticeable ones. Tanker do not have any lightning, illuminating the fuselage or refueling equipment. Currently night refueling without NVGs is not possible and heavily obstructed with NVGs. Examples: KC-130 Pod and Hose illumination lights missing. KC-135 Underwing illumination lights, pod illumination lights, Stab light and underbody illumination lights missing. Nealius Posted March 10, 2021 Share Posted March 10, 2021 That's strange. Upon requesting fuel from tankers they (KC-135, KC-130, S-3) turn on their position lights. Ha, Its easy, you just need practice.. Refuelling in the F-16 at night is actually easier because you can see the 'formation lights' more clearly under the fuselage. And the FA18 has a light on the probe, so that actually makes things ALOT easier.. As you arent distracted by the plane, you can just focus on the Drogue..
