Training Missions for the JF-17

Hello what is the easiest way to install and keep these missions updated?

Hello,

Interesting question, it all depends on personal preferences I guess ... I'm a fan of having things ordered so I keep my missions on the /Saved Games/DCS.openbeta/Missions/ folder, like this:

zmUKVfO.jpg

(The small arrow on the "Missions" folder means that it is actually a link to someplace else, as for backup purposes the real place of my Missions Folder is within a Cloud Drive)

Within the Missions folder I've created a Folder for each Map, so that I can have them separated by Map, and within each Map folder I've created one folder for each DCS Aircraft that I have, so all the Missions for the JF-17 set at Caucasus would go onto /Missions/Caucasus/JF-17/

Finally, when I have several related missions that are part of a Set, I put them onto their own folder (within the aircraft folder) .. on this example I've used "Training (by me)"

From within the Game, I reach them by going onto "My Missions":

LclKuML.jpg

then "Caucasus":

Xzp2WS6.jpg

then "JF-17":

JnaP9wp.jpg

and finally, "Training (by me)":

About keeping them updated, I actually rarely modify them once each is finished, the link that I provided on the first post of this thread always points to the latest version of each mission, but I can't think of any automatic way so that you can tell if your version is up to date or not, sorry about that.

Best regards,

Eduardo

I'm glad that you have used my missions, and I hope that you've found them useful. However, I prefer that they are not re-distributed, as I like to have the statistic of how many times each has been downloaded .. it's a nice incentive for me, and to gauge user interest.

Once I've finished a larger and more complete set of missions, I will then probably place them on the User Files Section of this Website, in the form of a User Training Campaign for the JF-17.

I do appreciate a lot that you are asking me about this in advance, as I've seen in the past other people just taking things without asking first, so thanks a lot for being so respectful.

Best regards,

Eduardo

Not a problem - I'm certainly not interested in doing anything with your hard work without explicit permision :)

Just a thought about tracking changes to the Misisons, would it be possible to add the date of the current version of the mission to the relevant section of the first post so people can compare manually even if it can't be done automatically ?

Hello, just started dcs few weeks ago and with your tutorial i did my first landing vfr approach without destroying my jf17 and killing myself. :)

Glad to hear that .. the two landing missions were a challenge to edit because things happens really fast once you are on finals, not giving me enough time to explain them.

Cheers!

If I press F6 to switch to missile view after launching them, nothing happens!

The missiles seem to have hit the ground.

I did everything you told me on the mission.

I haven't flown that mission after this Friday's patch .. let me re-fly it and I will be back :joystick:

Hello,

Yes, I've just checked and after this latest update it seems that the missiles are ignoring the TP (Turnpoint) parameter, and thus they try to fly straight towards the enemy convoy without realizing that there is a terrain mass within them and the convoy .. they crash onto the hills.

I will edit a short test mission and then create a track to report the Bug to DEKA, as my current mission is too complex to use as a demo case. I will keep you posted about this.

Sorry about this .. :(

Bug reported:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=4254793#post4254793

... in the meantime I've removed the mission link from the 1st post and will restore it once the Bug is solved by the developer, hopefully is something easy to fix.

Best regards,

Fantastic work, Eduardo. Really enjoying the airplane and your lessons. To the point and easy to understand.

Thanks a lot for your kind words

Rudel a suggestion: kindly put download links under the YouTube videos for each mission

I placed a link to this thread instead, as eventually I will be placing the Missions on the User Files section of this website instead of using my cloud drive.

Editing these Missions is a way for me to understand the JF-17 a bit better, and also understand better the Mission Editor and its cockpit triggers abilities.

Unfortunately, I’m now facing the problem of how to do missions about the weapons .. because the JF-17 has problems for displaying highlights on the HUD, they end up too low and change position when you move the head, unlike the highlights on the MFCDs :(

Best regards,

Eduardo.

Outstanding work sir! I have learned many small tips from your videos that have fleshed out my current knowledge of the JF-17 from flight experience and the great guide created by Chuck. Please keep up the great work it is much appreciated!

Is anyone else seeing the "Hostile" A-50 AWACS in the latest Datalink mission showing up as Green not Red ?

I will check and get back to you.

There has been a lot of changes on today's update, for example the radar lock on SEA1 and SEA2 modes is not working reliably, the lock last only a few seconds. For that reason, even tough the problem with the Turn Points of the C802AK missile has been solved, I haven't yet reisntated the M10 mission.

Other changes that I noted are that the explosive power of the C802AK has been increased and can now sink small warships; and the turn abilities of the C-802AK seem to be diminished, now can only perform large radius turns.

Will keep you posted.

Eduardo

Hello,

Just checked and you are right, the hostiles are being shown as friendlies after yesterday's DCS update

I will report the Bug to DEKA, hopefully it will be fixed soon .. in the meantime I will remove the link to the mission to avoid newcomers from having a bad experience.

I will also restore the link to the M10 Mission, as now the C802 cruise missiles are working well once again.

Best regards,

Eduardo

PS: Bug has been reported: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=268245 hopefully the bug will be squashed soon :)

Greetings sir, I am loving all your training vids, do you have one in the works for AAR? Can't wait for next video regardless of the topic, keep up the good work!

Thanks a lot for your kind words, but the next Training Mission will be about the employment of the GB-6 Gliding Bomb, it should be ready in 2-3 days.

After that, I will attempt to do one for the Aerial Refuelling

Best regards,

Eduardo
