Jester Panic

It would be nice if Jester didn't panic about every friendly missile and every enemy missile that isn't actually coming at us so that when he does panic I wouldn't dismiss it as BS.

It would be nice if Jester didn't scream like a girl and ejected when doing rhubarbs ...

Only did Tomcat on the weekend promotion. And this did happen.

he is a bit too abundant in missile callouts, we will tweak this further.

as for ejection: he is modeled so that he reacts like a real RIO would, which is a direct comment on your flying. It is better to deactivate him, if you do sim shenanigans no sane pilot would do in real life.

Well, Jester ejected 8 times in a row while trying to start up the plane on a pitching deck in rough seas by the time I got ground power and air attached, he was gone

Well, if there are no other problems ... Personally, I would prefer Heatblur to give us a testimony of what the Jester & LANTIRN Pod looks like. @Heatblur: Could you please give the community a short interim report. I think especially single players like me would be grateful to you.

To put it back on topic, it would be nice if Jester would like... relax a bit at least on the ground. I know there's a MiG-29 on the RWR 15 miles away but it's pretty hilarious trying to run through startup with Jester alternating between frantic and calm.

Just a small story from me flying the first mission of the campaign regarding Jester calling out friendly missiles:

After defeating the first wave of bombers and firing my AIM-54s in TWS at the second big group, I went in with my remaining sidewinders. Firing them of there were still multiple Tu-22M left and I was right behind one closing in on gun range when Jester went mad at a missile launch and calling to break left. As only friendly fighters were in the air I ignored that call, pulled the trigger and splashed the Tu-22M, only to blow up in a huge fireball a second later.

You can guess what happened. An AI F-14 fired a Phoenix on the bomber which I splashed and after the bomber evaporated, that Phoenix saw a shiny new target in my very own F-14.

So after all while maybe a bit dramatic, the call of friendly missile launches does help occasionally.

Can you reproduce this? This is actually something we'd need to look into imo. What weather settings did you use? Can you scrnshot them for me pls? I like to fly in rough sees a lot, but usually winds around 40kts, which wouldnt be so harsh that he ejects lol.

I had never had this happen that Jester would eject, except for one reason which is 100% reproducible and surely a known issue.

As soon as the carrier starts turning (for example when starting CASE x recoveries and turning into the wind), Tomcats will slide off the deck. Just before the plane falls, Jester will leeroy out, so working as intended I guess ;)

Yeah, well that is a unfortunate DCS issue. I don't think there is anything we can do about it, except, you know, making Jester not drown with the ac hehe.

Was on the Grim Reaper training server, during the "autumn" high wind etc, training. The Tomcat would spawn on the port side of the ship rather than by the Island.

Ok, it is possible that either lag cause the aircraft to slide off (you might not notice a tiny warp that put Jester over the water) or the deck was damaged already etc... Wind and/or sliding should not make him punch out.
