*Updated* 4/29/2020

*Removed F-22/F-35/Rafale/Gripen from list as most** fly by wire aircraft surely can't be a "challenge" to fly. 4/29/2020

*Removed C-130. 4/29/2020

*Added Grumman A-6 Intruder as I'm unsure if Heatblur will develop it. 4/29/2020

I've read through every post here and annotated every aircraft guess mentioned, as well as cross checked hints. Here's a list of everything it could be.

Sources:

*All aircraft being made by 3rd parties have been removed from list*

**NEW**"Here is what we know, It's not WW2, probably not a bomber, it's not the F4, or C130, it isn't old, but it isnt as new as to NOW. It's a challenge to fly, and is a milestone."* source -ED tester

Good list but I don’t think J-15 will happen for a long time, Deka has confirmed AI j-15/Liaoning however

I understand but Eagle Dynamics said the aircraft was mentioned in this thread, so I can't rule anything out yet.

Interesting

Where did 9Line / ED mention this?

Intel i7-13700KF :: ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI D4 :: Corsair Vengeance LPX 64GB ::  MSI RTX 4080  Gaming X Trio  :: VKB Gunfighter MK.III MCG Ultimate :: VPC MongoosT-50 CM3 :: non-VR :: single player :: open beta

I love how you take that to mean specifically that one out of the approximately 1500 types the thread also mentioned.

Here's a source stating that it's going to be complex:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4200775&postcount=237

I also decided to put the "not single pilot friendly" back into the main list because there are aircrafts like that in game or in development.

My new best candidate in this is the F-117 because it's notorious for being very hard to fly. Making it's flight model would be a huge milestone as well as modeling it's stealthiness.

Here is my updated reduced list:

A-4 Skyhawk

English Electric Lightning

F-104 Starfighter

F-117 Nighthawk

Sepecat Jaguar

F-111 Aardvark

Old/long out of service:

F-105 Thundercheif

Saab 35 Draken

B-57 Canberra

not hard to fly:

Dassault Rafale

F-22A Raptor

F-35A Lightning II

Saab JAS-39 Gripen

requires multicrew:

B-1B Lancer

C-130 Hercules

E-2 Hawkeye

E-3 Sentry

EA-6B Prowler

KC-130 Hercules

KC-135 Stratotanker

Panavia Tornado

Russian or similar:

J-15 Flanker-X2

Mig-25 Foxbat

Mig-29 Fulcrum

Mig-31 Foxhound

Mig-35 Fulcrum F

Su-22 Fitter

Su-24 Fencer

Su-25 Frogfoot

Su-27 Flanker

Su-30 Flanker

Su-34 Flanker

Su-37 Flanker

TU-22 Backfire

not fixed wing:

CH-47 Chinook

UH-60 Blackhawk/Seahawk

V-22 Osprey

World war II or earlier:

Hawker Nimrod

similar to what we have:

F-15C Eagle

F/A-18 E/F/G Hornet

No,

How can it be the F117. Didn't they say it was multi crew?

I never seen them mentioning it was multi crew, frankly I hope it is not, unless with single player attitude (solid AI RIO/WSO).

Exactly right

In my mind A-4 Skyhawk, English Electric Lightning and F-104 Starfighter are old, too.

Yeah, there is enough old aircraft already.

I dream of red jet, but if it is blue rotary I hope SH-60 before AH-64.

I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere but their history shows the opposite. That's why I ruled out aircrafts that absolutely need multi crew to operate.

My bad. Thought the reason everyone first said “yep, its the Phantom “ was because the original post said “eagerly awaited multi crew”??

Been wrong before...

The phantom is delayed due this mystery module so pretty safe to assume its not a phantom. I still want a phantom tho.

Given the recent discussions around projects pipeline and roadmap for current modules, I now feel that the 'secret project', is still not decided upon in terms of what it will be, and that, coupled with when it would be possibly started makes the announcement wait less exciting now.

Best sekrit project surprise would be finish existing modules really.

If the two 5th Genners and the two 4th gen Eurocanards are out, how come the -117 is in, still? It's a fly-by-wire aircraft, too. And, it wasn't at all difficult to fly as per its pilots.

https://www.af.mil/News/Article-Display/Article/1499939/remembering-the-f-117-nighthawk/

“I think we all recognized that this was something historic,” he said. “We retired an airplane that people still reference today. We really understood that so it was a sentimental flight to say the least. It was a great weapon system, very stable and easy to fly. It’s still a memorable experience.”

After all, it's a FBW aircraft. The claims of its difficulty of handling probably come out of certain pieces of media that failed to differ between the F-117A and the Have Blue.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!
