It´s still very bad, especially over crowded areas like Dubai or Las Vegas on PG and Nevada Maps. It´s not permanently, but I experience very heavy occasional stutters every 10 or 20 seconds or so. This was already the case before the 2.5.6. update. F18 or F14 perform WAY better in VR on the same maps. I really hope this is due to ea status and will be sorted out some day. This plane could be so much fun, but to be honest, it´s not flyable at the moment in VR for me.

Over less populated areas it´s smooth and with constant 45 FPS (at least)

Can anyone confirm this?

I hope not. That would minimize the probability of fixing this issue, I really hoped the Viper would perform as flawlessly as the Hornet when getting out of ea some day.

Me too mate....similar specs to you too. F-18 runs better.

i7 8700k @ 5.0ghz. Strix GTX1080Ti. 32GB RAM @ 3600. 2x Hyper X SSD’s with DCS on one. Oculus Rift S. Asus PG278-QR. Liquid Series PC with liquid CPU and GPU cooling.

By curiosity DST, what’s your DCS graphic settings ?

We have similar computer and I can give some advices and or test with my rig if you provide the missions/test protocol and give you some feedback/fps results to compare.

For sure the F18 is one of the smoother plane in VR. The F-16 is less optimized but it is way better than it was at the beginning and I am starting to have fun with it. I have no issue with the 2.5.6 in VR, maybe even better than 2.5.5. I have the feeling that shadows are less taxiing. I don’t try heavy missions, just relaxing, profiting the view and VR feeling

Thanks for replies. I just tested again after latest patch and there are still framedrops over areas with lots of 3d objects on the ground, from otherwise constant 40 fps down to ca. 20. It is only for 1-2 seconds and then it goes well again for like half a minute or so.

I also fly alone on empty map without wingman or other planes.

Interestingly on the caucasus map this issue does´nt seem to occur, there the F16 is a quite flawless experience almost comparable to F18.
