It takes about 2.5 minutes for the account verification and the loading time. I think the time when the small window with the DCS logo appears is only used for the account verification itself, because the loading screen appears much later and takes less time due to my SSD. See for yourself:

In the past DCS launched much quicker for me, but I believe the more modules I own the longer it takes for the account verification. By now I own almost all aircraft. So maybe this issue could be solved by checking only the account itself instead of each module separately.

Sorry if this was a bit ot.

I see. Thanks for the info. The issue is known, unfortunately our most loyal customers get hit worst, but the cause is already found and the fix is being tested.

As for refreshing the audio device list in runtime, I'll check it out.

Dear guys,

I started to play 1 month ago, but I was unable to play 2.5.6 open beta becuase I was unable to hear any sound from the game itself (the same thing was not happening in 2.5.5.41962). After several trials, I discovered that lower the audio from 48.000 Hz to 44.100 Hz in the audio proprieties - advanced settings, could solve your problem. At least it solved it for me.

Hope it was helpful.

Hello! I also have sound issues. DCS (both release and beta) refuses to play sound through my speakers but does play sound through my headphones.

I tried disconnecting my headphones and leaving the speakers as the only output device in Windows, it didn't help.

I also looked into the 48/44 kHz issue. I found some errors in DCS log on the default 48kHz that disappeared when I switched to 44kHz, but I still had no sound. However after switching back to 48kHz, the errors didn't return. Still no sound.

Logs are attached, the "48k-first" is the one with faults. In all these, I just opened the game and the audio settings. I switched between the default device and the speakers in the 48k-first. I also tried that later without faults in the log. I also tested the sound in game to confirm it isn't just the music, that's not in the logs. All the logs are with headphones disconnected.

I can test other scenarios if required, I'll be checking the thread.

As an addendum, I tried it with the headphones.

With my headphones connected, I started DCS. The speakers were still selected as output device in DCS (no sound), so I went to the audio settings and switched all 3 to the headphones - sound immediately started playing.

Log attached (I can't see any faults in it)

I was having this same error and what seems to have fixed it for me was fixing my audio format on my headphones for some reason instead of saying 1channel,16 bit, 48000 hz (dvd quality) it changed to 1 channel, 16 bit, 48000.

After I changed the audio format to the (dvd quality) it fixed my game and the error went away, the option without (dvd quality) also disappeared.

I was having the same issue. When digging into the log i found theses errors in the log.

2020-04-03 02:13:55.193 INFO SOUND: Opening default audio device.

2020-04-03 02:13:55.198 INFO SOUND: Using 0 channels at 48000 Hz

2020-04-03 02:13:55.198 ERROR SOUND: can't start renderer

If you change the device from 48000hz to lower such as 44100hz in the speaker properties if the same issuue will resolve the problem. i made the change and have not had a problem since.

I'm glad you found a workaround.

Try updating your Realtek drivers, please.

I found newer drivers and installed them, situation in DCS remains the same. I can still use the headphones so it isn't a huge issue for me.

I'm including logs but I don't think there's anything important. The first start has errors where I believe the audio device IDs have changed with the drivers update and DCS tried to open the audio device by an old ID. When switched to the correct speaker device, it didn't print errors but didn't play audio.

The second log is just switching from the speakers to the headphones. No errors, only the headphones played audio.

Literally started getting this issue tonight - no audio in DCS whatsoever. Worked without issue last weekend - now nothing. No update (obviously) and no system changes. DCS is the only application which is not giving me audio.

I'm having a diffierent issue. I get intermittent sound at times in the last couple of patches and the only way I can resolve it is by restarting my PC. Very annoying.

(I did post on this further down, but didn't get any reply so I thought I woould try here as the issues may be linked.)

I am having the same issue in both release and bata. What I have found is that if I do anything on the computer, such as opening a web page first and then closing it and then starting DCS I get no sound. Restart the computer and sometimes that works sometimes not.

This is a driver bug. The proper workaround will be out in the nearest openbeta.

did the autoexec.cfg thing worked once. but not anymore. Was working if I used my old analog headset through my sound blaster card, but now even that doesn't work without a reboot or some other magic to get it working.

any logs?

already did the autoxec.cfg work around. It only helped once. The big thing is it doesn't matter if I am using the bata or the release version. It is a crap shoot if it will have sound or not. At times I have rebooted the PC 5 times to get it to work. I stopped with the open bata when the autoxec.cfg didnt' work. But today neither one would work. no matter what I tried.
