*Rage* Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 Hi all, Was wondering if any of you with heasets (or those considering buying) would recommend a quality headset and mic to use with DCS-BS. FC had major issues with sound reproduction for me especially under vista, im hoping DCS-BS has resolved these and am looking to to get a nice set for multiplayer. Did some online researching and it appears yuo can get headsets with 5.1 surround sound (Medusa 5.1) but theres a 10 page thread (flame war) about them on toms hardware which gave me a headache. Alternately Sennheiser seems to be a name bounded about alot. Edit - does BS support surround sound? Suggestions? DeathDemon Posted December 1, 2007 Posted December 1, 2007 These guys seem to think the medusa is a superb headset.
*Rage* Posted December 1, 2007 Author Posted December 1, 2007 Ive essentially narrowed it down to 4 choices. 1) Razer barracuda HP-1 2) Medusa 5.1 progamer 3) Sennheiser (?166/161/550) 4) Turtle beach AK-R8 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22

Dudikoff Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Ive essentially narrowed it down to 4 choices. 4) Turtle beach AK-R8 Why not Turtle Beach HPA2? i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg. Once the target sum is reached, I'll be off to somewhere nice I promise not to post from. I'd buy that for a dollar!
*Rage* Posted December 2, 2007 Author Posted December 2, 2007 Why not Turtle Beach HPA2? Lol not sure.....have you tried any of them? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Dudikoff Posted December 2, 2007 Posted December 2, 2007 Lol not sure.....have you tried any of them? I have Medusa 5.1. They're ok, but as far as reviews go, it seems that HPA2 are the best. They seem to be the same as AK-R8 you mentioned, except that they're not USB (which is a plus) and have an amplifier (another plus). So, go for HPA2 :) (I wouldn't recommend USB connection; direct analog connection is trouble free plus there is an amplifier with bass enhancement with HPA2). i386DX40@42 MHz w/i387 CP, 4 MB RAM (8*512 kB), Trident 8900C 1 MB w/16-bit RAMDAC ISA, Quantum 340 MB UDMA33, SB 16, DOS 6.22 w/QEMM + Win3.11CE, Quickshot 1btn 2axis, Numpad as hat. 2 FPH on a good day, 1 FPH avg.
