The point of a beta version is to try things while being able to roll back if required.

What's makes it difficult now is that the roll back should have occurred weeks ago instead of pilling up things on top of this broken version.

+1

This patch took broken things that needed rolled back and instead just broke more things. But HEY ppl can eject and walk around on carrier decks now. Too bad planes dont work on them any more.

Hi guys, I've got a big fps drop with the last patch, 20 fps at low altitude almost everywhere on the Caucasus map (didn't test it on PG). I was at 40 fps before the patch! I'm on VR with a very good rig and I hope their will be a patch soon to repair it.

I guess that's what you get when not listening to (or censoring) the beta testing community

I know you are angry, and you are posting a lot to let us know.

We are listening and feeding back to management, any deleted post has broken our forum rules.

If you want to discuss moderation, PM me it is not for public discussion as per our forum rules at the top of the page.

Literally the lamest and over used excuse. Stable is just as broken, its still on bigs from 5 months ago and everyone knows full well including ED that the majority of users play on OB including MP servers and that the title "beta" is nothing more than window dressing on what is the current proper build.

According to provided data majority still uses stable version:

https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=4287694&postcount=115

Maybe you should try to think more about if using open beta brings that much benefits as you think.

Not to mention content that can be paid for but is only available on OB.

You are talking about early access content... all those new content can be causing issues which are you complaining about.

Try again. No excuse for completely breaking content with a patch thats supposed to improve the title not destroy it. And to my knowledge its super carrier issues that were "known" and going to take a while to fix. That doesnt mean they fully intended to break current carriers and it was going to be a while to fix them. They worked fine 2 days ago.

This patch took broken things that needed rolled back and instead just broke more things. But HEY ppl can eject and walk around on carrier decks now. Too bad planes dont work on them any more.

Other things are fixed in latest patch, but you care only about "your" features, you want to rollback to build which suits just your needs.

The point of a beta version is to try things while being able to roll back if required.

What's makes it difficult now is that the roll back should have occurred weeks ago instead of pilling up things on top of this broken version.

ED's open beta is defined diffrently

As such, the Open Beta version is for us to "field-test" new changes and check for any DCS-wide "Blocking" crashes, and the Release version is the result of the previous Open Beta that does not suffer any "Blocks." As with Early Access, Open Beta is an option and may not be for everyone.

Sorry yes I am a bit angry, since February there have been numerous post about the fact that this version was broken and unplayable for many all we got were "we're looking into it statements" and quite useless updates. Had ED taken this seriously from the beginning we wouldn't be in such a bad shape today.

I know I shouldn't be that angry, it's just a game after all and there are more important matter nowadays, but it's how much I liked it.

Just tried again on a online server and it is freezing for 2 to 3 seconds every 10 seconds, MSI graph showing, GPU temp. GPU usage, fan speed, in fact every graph apart from the memory clock has exaggerated saw tooth effect. Unfortunately this is now unplayable. Fingers well and truly crossed for a fix.

Yes, this is where I'm noticing the problem. Free flight seems to scream along perfectly.

The Viper free flight in PG certainly doesn't. Look at the CPU frame times there when flying over the airfield.

Can we all try to help the matter? I've noticed that missions are the main culprit for me. Free flight for me is screaming along like normal in 2.5.5. If I switch to a mission I then start to see wild fluctuations of frame rate. I suspect that many of the fan created missions from the forums may no longer work properly. One of the WWII escort missions I downloaded dropped me down to 12 frames per second. I'm not using VR and only playing SP.

Nope, a small hotfix. Just install it.

I see. What does it do, you know?

Possibly cleaned up Super carrier files that werent supposed to be included in the release and were causing some servers to crash or completely fail to load. Ppl have started testing to see if it solved that problem but havent seen results yet. I assume it did.

Hi, my system:

I9 9900K @4.5ghz

32 g Ram DDR4

RTX 2080

SSD

Rift S

I test differents settings and when I put the cockpit shadows on flat only (it was set to low before) I was able to get a solid 40 fps with MSAA *4 (set at 2 usually) and Pixel density at 1.5 doing aerobatics at low level over Kutaisi with a JF-17, I never had a solid 40 fps at low level and high speed before so I was very happy but when I put back the shadows to low I was at 26 fps on the ground and lot of stuttering when airborne.

After that I decide to set the MSAA*2 the shadow to flat only and PD at 1.4 thinking of the solid 40 fps I will have with a smile and guess what? I'm between 36 and 40 fps on the ground and between 30 and 40 fps in flight with a lot of stuttering (slideshow during roll).

I really don't understand what is happening!

PS: It's just a free flight mission with only 1 plane 5/10 clouds at 12000 ft. And I've cleared the fxo and metashaders 2 after the update.

Does anybody test these patches before you release them? disappointed but not surprised.

Pretty sure they do, but here's the thing Heavydriver - the Open Beta IS the testing branch of DCS.

I just try last 2.5.6 with VR.

I loose 10 FPS between 2.5.5 and 2.5.6 (same option). Many stutter to report with F18c.

My specs : Nvidia 1070ti, 32 go RAM, I5-8600K, SSD and RIFT S

Thank you both for the specs and feedback.

If any of you haven't seen the Grim Reapers video of a recent interview with Nick Grey from ED, I suggest you give it a view or listen to it in the background. It opened my eyes to just how much work goes into creating content for DCS and as frustrating as early access seems to us it is an absolute necessity to the company. It certainly gave me a whole new view on things.

100% of testing isnt end user responsibility. A good degree of "testing" should still be done in house and theres no fault in any one who expects it. You dont pay a dev to just throw some numbers into the code then release it. It "should" be tested, double tested, confirmed by internal QA and then looked at again and confirmed suitable for release by a manager. The kinds of bugs that should be making it to beta are things that can vary based in hardware configurations amd operating systems where internal testing cannot possibly be expected to cover every possible outcome. Things like the fps issues are perfectly normal and expected beta branch issues. Breaking functional code is not appropriate beta branch product.

+1.

Except in my opinion a rollback should have been months ago...As I said months ago lol.

Honestly it would be nice if ED could explain rollbacks. Not picking on anyone here, but I think we are all in new territory and doing things the old way is not working.
